** The Official WWDC 2011 Thread **

That's a pretty good price once you factor in the sale. My 3GS is mint apart from a hairline crack above the mute switch. I'm not sure it's worth getting a 4 for 3 months though, IF a 5 comes out in September.

If 5 comes out in Sep I will wait till after Christmas once any issues have been sorted instead of jumping the gun incase there are issues like there was with the iphone 4. I think it was worth the upgrade considering the price I payed.

Thankfully HTC are following suit and have put notifcation LED's on most of their phones. Having got an iPhone 4 and Galaxy S II its something you tend to miss unless you check your phone all the time, its better if you can just glance at it on your desk and see if you have a message, etc.

You certainly dont NEED it, but its very good to have.

Have to agree, have one on my moto milestone and would miss it, a lot.

If they wait until the very end of this year or next year, the A5 is going to be dated.

'The best design ever?' :p

I'm not sure how you would translate the iPad 2 design into a phone but it would be interesting to see.

The iPad 2 design is basically the 4th gen iPod touch design. It's nearly a phone.:p

And so the mud slinging begins

http://www.winrumors.com/microsoft-flattered-with-apples-ios-5-windows-phone-features/

Windows Phone Program Director goes on twitter and hints (slyly lol) that apple ripped off windows phone ideas.

Stupid thing is, the only one that actually looks like a rip off, is the keyboard.

But even then, the graphics on ios look so much nicer. And i love the comment about news stand

Windows Phone Mango also includes a similar service that application developers can build into their apps.

lol so you've got an API that nobody is using because everybody is busy developing for iOS. Not exactly the same is it ? Clutching at straws with that one.

And the messaging integration that they put side by side - they are completely different things.

If anything imessenger is a rip of BBM, not Windows Phone lol.

Haha, not used WP7 before? Like it or not iOS 5 just updates the phone to 2010 spec. It looks more thorough though and MS desperately needs the mango update asap (looking forward to see what Nokia can do)

What specifically is missing to make a 2011 spec phone?

iOS5 looks great to me and doesnt seem to have anything missing - I do think they could have done better with the notification thing though as it looks clunky and naff, I would have expected better.

iOS, iTunes, iCloud and Lion will make a pretty much unbeatable proposition though.

You get it off the bay or from a mate?

Contacted a user on ebay then went to pick it up mate. I have purchased my micro sim card from T-mobile Orange at a charge of £10.00 for the last 2 months remaining on my contract and then bye bye to contracts.

Giffgaff are the best deals at the moment in terms of texts/data/calls.

So it's a tablet. lmao

Activate iOS 5

1. Triple click the home button. This will activate the Voice Over.
2. Triple click the home button and Emergency Call will appear.
3. Click on Emergency Call and, while it's switching, swipe with your three fingers down.
4. The Notification Center will appear!
5. Click on the Weather widget. The Weather app will load.
6. Click on the home button to exit to the iPhone's springboard.

lmao what a work around! Genius. Can anyone confirm this works with a UK iPhone 4? Also if anyone has upgraded I hope you saved your SHSH blobs! so you can downgrade if needed!

Apparently after reading this on wired.com it will work but you will not be able to make/receive calls, still needs the UDID registered to activate the radio :(

Great for an iPod Touch though :D

Can't you guys wait for a few months? ;)

It's most likely going to be buggy, not work properly yet, will expire and maybe leave you with a bricked phone until iOS5 is properly released.

Is it *really* worth the effort?

The people moaning that apple never invent anything themselves and just copy other peoples designs make me laugh.

As do the comments that apple products are somehow worse than anybody elses but only make up for it with "marketing".

+1

Personally from what I have noticed over the years Apple always seems to set the trend with new products and other manufacturers have to play catch up.
