What sort of score does the HIS 256mb version get in 3d mark 05/06? In turbo mode, just wondering if it's better than my sapphire clocked to the same speeds.

Hi Beast, I just got my HIS delivered today but haven't got it installed yet. I would imagine that both cards perform exactly the same when clocked at the same speed.

Their is some confusion about this 'Turbo-Mode', it's not a 'mode' but rather indicates the card is part of the Turbo series (meaning pre-overclocked at the factory). HIS apparently used to have an 'iTurbo Mode' on previous cards. These cards came at reference clocks but would allow an easy 'one-click' overclock once you installed the 'iTurbo' software.

How do I know all this? well I read all the reviews in the opening post! ;)

ok so we deff need a crossfire capable mobo to run crossfire...
i.e. rd580_3200, like the dfi, asus and sapphire

the thing is will these mobos support the upcoming rv600 gfx from ati..?

cause for example... 570 and 590sli do support 7900 series and 8800

any thoughts...?

ps - sorry Dons, i know u are not stupid but here we are a community u know!!! we need a way of speaking the truth..... anyways.. sorry

Big wayne, I compel you to run 3d mark as soon as you can!!

Considering buying a HIS x1950 as it's soo cheap :o I've only just bought the sapphire too

Alright ladies. Finally put my Sapphire X1950 Pro AGP in. Few questions.

Do i have to have both the molex on the card connected with power?
I connected one of them, it booted up, installed drivers and begain to see artifacts.
So now I've added power to both molex connections and its running 3dmark.

So for the software.
I'm using Vista, installed the latest drivers 6.12 for my OS. And I can't access the control panel what so ever. Its like my PC has not even installed them when I click on the short cut menu at the Start menu. Anyone else in the same loop? Currently running 3dmark on my rig. Posting from my brother PC.

i don't think that are 6.12s for vista - just xp/2000. are you sure you have the right drivers?

besides i would definitely test the card out in xp/2000 to verify everything works before trying vista. :)

Thats the link I've been using. How can i test them out on XP when I dont have dual boot any more. No one I know have AGP any more.

Btw, here is a 05 3d Score.

i think that's an ok score for vista. it's always going to come up short compared to xp. if everything is working then you have nothing to worry about. of course there is no opengl support in the vista drivers yet so don't go expecting to play games like doom3 and quake4. :)

I do want some control over my Catalyst drivers because I have dual screen and its the only way i think to activate it.

ah sorry. i should read posts more thoroughly.... :p

i used to run my x800pro on vista beta2 with old ati beta2 drivers and the ccc was fully functional.... howabout ati tray tools? might be worth giving those ago. failing that i don't know - remember the drivers are still beta (even though they are labelled RTM :().

Not sure if you mean Catalyst 'Control-Center', but you don't need that installed to set-up dual display.

Just bring up 'Display Properties' click the no.2 display in the top window (adjust its res, its always at 640x480?) then just put a check box where it says [v] Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor then 'Apply' . . . your done! :)
