I'm sure it does the job . . . but . . . you really should be looking into getting at least a 19" LCD that runs 1280x1024. I held off for a while but eventually picked up an LCD 20 months ago, the difference really is 'night & day', very very sharp, vibrant and colourful as hell, space saving, low energy etc etc etc.

One of the best upgrades I ever made actually so I highly recommend you sell a kidney/your sister etc to grab yourself a new LCD to pair up with your X1950 Pro, its a perfect match really!! :D

Seems like we're getting a few bad ones, folks :( In addition to my thread, that I linked to earlier.....

Hope to get a good one next try!

to to inform everyone, there is nothing wrong with my card, and yes i am using the latest ati drivers and not the 6.11's that people are saying to use

I'm actually a little bit scared about what I'm looking at with the new rig I ordered tonight.
Last gaming rig I had only had a 2000xp cpu and herc 9800pro gfx with 1gb memory.
Now I'm into the dual core cpu game, 2gb dual channel mem and this sexy as hell HIS X1950 Pro card.

Main gaming will be HL2 + mods and IL2 1946 (which to my mind in the original IL2 and Aces expansions was/is one of the best looking games around).
and to think it wasn't so long ago I was planning a rig based around the 800pe cards :D

X1950 PRO performance with

going to buy a E6300, 2GB of ram (blah blah blah) and am thinking of getting a X1950 pro, and then keeping that as a "I am waiting for R600/8800GTS/DX10 to become norm and see how they all perform".

How would it run a game like Oblivion @ 1680x1050 at high settings (I mean full as possible).

I would overclock the card of course, I know there are benchmarks out there, but I prefer user oppions a lot of the time, rather than tests done by a website :)

Did u read any of the posts so far in this thread? or the opening post? (lots of review there :) )

I think you may be expecting too much from the X1950 Pro if you wanna play 'Oblivion' in high res and max settings! :D

Just some temps information, the X1950 Pro seems to be one cool running GPU, kinda bit baffled by a few sapphire owners who claim their cards are running hot and crashing?

Can i just confirm my psu is up to the job to use a HiS 1950pro 512mb AGP.

Akasa Paxpower 400W Ultra Quiet PSU Blue v.3 - ATX 2.0

AMD 3500+ venice stock
HSF arctic 64 pro
2gb geil value ram ddr400
mb is asus a8v deluxe rev 2.0
dvdrw - liteon 1673 i think
4 fans [psu][cpu][front and back of case]
1x 30gb hdd maxtor
1x 200gb maxtor hdd
audigy 2 zs
asus v9999 GE (at the mo)
keyboard and mouse are ps2 connected.

I think these are the stats for psu.

http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/spec_page/psu/spec_ak_p400fg_blv3.htm

Tho at ocuk site it seems the same its rated 3.3 and 5 combined is 210w instead of 130ishw as what akasa site says.

I know i asked this before here but im reasking due to what sapphire forums were going on about due to the regulars there hounding users because of lower per rail amps. They are rude to anyone who doesnt have 22amp on each rail for +12v or 30amp on single rail psu's +12v. And they say dont bother with the card unless you have 450w psu with either 22amp on a multi rail psu or 30amp on single rail psu on the +12. Hence my renewed interest if my psu is ok if i did upgrade to a 1950pro 512mb HiS card (AGP). I mean my asus v9999GE needs 2 molex power connectors on the card so im guessing its power hungry and i aint had trouble all year with it so...
