3 minutes @ 100% and it's still on there! It just sticks.
Legend. :D

Well done for trying it. So there's the answer, either rma it or stick some blu tack on it.

So then, I wonder what the problem is and how the blue-tac is fixing it?

Is it the fan not mounted correctly? A problem with the fan-hub? something loose?

bluetac probably just makes it heavier meaning it wobbles less.

ive sent mine back and ordering a sapphire ultimate.

Yeah it's great now! Can't be bothered with sending it back to be honest, and I think the HIS is still the best Pro (until the godfather arrives :D )

my HIS 1950pro 256meg agp arrived today and it's perfect so far:) the card looks great, fan lead is very tidy and cut to proper length and no rattling i can't hear it at all hehe the 6pin power plug on my enermax noise taker 485w has finally been used and that slipped on easily. i installed the drivers that came on the cd i think they're 6.9's but they work great with everything i've tried so far giving 3d mark scores of 03-13548 05-6988 running on my trusty very old amd barton xp 2800@2ghz so that's about 60%-80% faster than my 6800gt and everything just looks that bit crisper too. temps are idle-38c and load-48c and the whole system (akasa eclipse) is about 2c lower.

only negative thing is the bonus dvd including dungeon siege and some "SE" cyberlink apps is'nt working at all or my dvd drive is just too old to recognise it, dunno. but i've got dungeon siege already and would'nt have installed the cyberlink apps sooo no real loss.

on the rear of the card quite low down there's a little chip that's surrounded by what looks like a square pink pad like some TIM that has'nt got a heatsink on it? dunno what it is but like i said it's all running fine.

i'm well happy! :)

YoYoYo, Im close to joining this thread. Might be getting the 1950PRO for another rig of mine. Just thinking between XT and Pro atm.

Welcome aboard the X1950 Pro Express, be sure to check the opening post and enjoy your new card! :)

I think that little chip is the 'PCI-E to AGP' converter (obviously PCI-E card owners don't have that!), does it get burning hot when running 3d?

And here's the pix (poor quality tho on camera fone)

luvly box comes very well packed! :)

spa0082df5.jpg

Nice cooler comes with a two slot design ala x19xx xt xtx's and is extremely quiet indeed!

spa0089lp5.jpg

And finally inside the rig! Very nice card! Im oh so happy!

3D Mark 06 score 5114 with e6300 @ 2.1ghz and Ati Radeon x1950pro 256mb ddr3 @ 621core 1.58ghz mem!

On relation to the GS I did have before I prefer this card, its slightly faster, its got far superior image quality and that is for certain!
Plus i got mines for free! i love it when parcels get lost and then get delivered over a month later!

cheers :) i gave it a little prod after it had been on doing some 3dmark03 runs and was'nt hot, barely warm like the rest of the card i think it's there by design i can't see them forgetting to put a HS on it if it really needs one. i found a pic of the reverse side of the sapphire agp card and my HIS is exactly the same, like a TIM with a hole cut in it no idea what it is though.

happy with my x1950 pro

hello,

just bought a sapphire x1950 pro 512 AGP for my ageing rig, the last upgrade she gets... :(

having swapped it for my old 9800 pro(XT bios) all i can say is i'm well impressed with the results, been playing HL2 and CoD2 all day with all the eye candy turned on, i think i'm going blind...

bought a 22" LCD before christmas and was happy with it but the 9800 just wasn't doing it justice so i had to take the plunge.

i can run HL2 @ 1680 - 1050 res with all options on full and it runs soo smoooth...

CoD2 is @ 1280 - 960 res with all options on and that runs smooth too, 1680 - 1050 is just a bit too laggy.

the increased detail in both games is stunning.

just using the supplied drivers at the moment(cat 6.9) tried to load the latest omega drivers on install but it didn't want to load, seemed to install ok but when rebooting found they hadn't installed, tried twice but needed to sample the new card so went with the included to get going.

maybe some advice would help? as i would like to run the omega driver, always did with the 9800 and would like to try and OC it some too. ;)

thanks

i got a 3Dmark06 score 4207, i think this is reasonable probably the rest of the rig is holding it back...

the rest of my rig:

asus K8v SE deluxe
A64 3200 (754)
1.5 G corsair VS ram
Enermax 480W psu
various sata drives
various DVD drives

said it was ageing.....

found info on the pink square on the back , "On both boards the bridge chip is placed on the back of the PCB, and can run without a heatsink (although there may be a pad over the top on shipping versions to protect the resistors on the chip package)"

case closed :)

forget overclocking. mine will hardly budge from stock and i'm not the only one.... :p

and try running cod2 at 1440x900. that will maintain the correct aspect ratio (16:10) for your monitor. that's the res i play and i play with all ingame settings on max apart from anti-aliasing which is just set to 4x.

sorry have no clue about the omegas... :D

hiya, it's newer than my xp barton heh.
the 6.9's seem quite popular for the 1950 cards i've been reading so i'm sticking
with them until i need to change.

cool thanks

i'll keep with the 6.9 then for the time being.

1440 - 900 doesn't appear as an option (probably going to look stupid here)...

still a big step up from the 9800.

yeah im using them 6.9 that come with the card. works perfectly so i aint updating em till i get a problem :) perfectly stable :) got a small overclock om me saphire as in sig. it was lil high but strange cs:S would crash the card but no other game would lol soo i backed of me mem overclock onthe card and all is well :D
