The rattle has gone now! and it plays back Windows media player without the blue/red problem. I'll hold off the RMA for a week.

Anyone know what that jumper is for on the HIS x1950 pro agp cards at top left corner of the card near the backplate where connections are. Never seen a gfx card with jumpers before and got me woundering what it is and if it is useful for getting more out of it hehe.

2-3 FPS, at best.

About 10 fps if you use high aa and af tho.

That's true.

But if he was asking for a PCI-E card, I'd say forget the 512mb x1950Pro and get a 256mb x1950XT.

Swings and roundabouts TBH. :)

Hmm, got a HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro today and just installed it.
Not sure If I have done something wrong, but I see almost no improvement what-so-ever over my old x800xt.

Playing world of warcraft the FPS seems pretty much exactly the same as the older card, with all settings the same.

Using latest 7.1 drivers from amd site.
I uninstalled previous drivers then used driver cleaner before installing it.

* edit, seems to of improved after a reinstall. Still not as big an improvement as I expected. I guess WoW is more power hungry than it seems.

It comes pre-applied and from the reviews I read it is decent stuff.
Fitting is easy.
Unplug the fan cable. Unscrew and remove the old cooler. Clean the chip & memory with tissue or cotton buds & a little alcohol (aftershave will do). Stick the thermal pads onto the memory. Remove the cover protecting the paste on the new cooler. Fit new cooler. Tighten screws. Plug in fan cable. Job done!

HIS fan rattle

When I placed my finger on the outer guard part near the fan I could feel the card vibrating. Today, even though I've got some cold/sore throat/ear ache bug I can hear the card fan rattling around with the computer case cover back on.

Is this rattle unique to a rushed batch of HIS 1950 Pro's? Does the HIS 1950 XT also suffer from it?

Still got to try applying some preasure on the fan to see if it will click, like others have mentioned. But would rather return the card than have the issue return later on if related to shoddy fitting or materials.
