The Orange Box or CS:S?

I quite enjoyed the single player on PC. Really nice on high at 1920 with a good sound system.

Anyway, in popularity, it's a close second, the factors to look at though is that CS:S is OLD. Yet it's still played by an incredible number of people, reason for this? In game basic physics/simple game play/constant updates and very effective game mechanics that make it less likely for noobs to just run around spraying you. No health 'regeneration' either. 100hp, 1 bullet to the head with an ak = dead. Clear precise hitboxes too.

Anyway.. I'm blabbering

I understand, CS:S is a more skill-requiring shooter as you cant just pick up and play expecting to be top of the leaderboard. Thats why it looks like I would prefer it considerably to MW2 (I do really despise how much that game is noob-friendly though, allowing any player to go Scavenger, Danger Close, Commando and a Noob Tube set-up and mowing any competition)

Yeah, as Semiskimmed says above, It's a slower paced game. There are so many available mods for it though.. It's like you're getting 15 games in one. All with the same basic controls and taking advantage of the source physics. But some, zombie mods, deathruns, climbing, surfing, deathmatch, Warcraft mod, RPG mod (gain xp unlock special abilities), knife, minigames (mg), hostages, VIP, bomb/defuse, maze, trikz, football, and so many more.

I get bored of TF2 because it's too samey, the run from spawn to action is too long, and the classes ruin it. On CS:S I can decide to do ANYTHING at any moment. Flashes/Smokes/Nades open up an awesome dynamic, no noob splash damage rocket launchers etc. Just full on balanced game play that is STILL not boring to me even though I've played off and on since I was 11 (now 20).

Get Orange Box though, complete all the HL2 eps, play some TF2, and see what you think. With the new "manconemy" update, you buy stuff from the steam store to improve play.. I'm not a fan of stores that stack stats on those with money to burn. Can't hurt to try though!
