(Now I hope this doesnt break any rules, as I am not talking about selling any games, only which one would be most recommended by you guys to buy out of the two)

Both ruffly the same price, both extremely popular, both I would liketo get, but which is the one which is most addictive?

I am looking at buying one of the two, and have been leaning towards OB more as it contains 5 different games (although I do already have Portal) and means more objects/models to play with in GMod (which I already have) than if I was to only buy CS:S, but then CS:S looks like the better online game compared to TF2.

I will in time get the other one, but for now I can only afford one as I have other things I need to spend my money on.

Opinions and pros & cons of the two would be appreciated.

You get 5 games with The Orange Box. If you don't already have HL2+E1 then it's a cracking deal. Otherwise, you'd be effectively buying TF2 + HL2E2, which imho is still well worth 16.99.

I'd say that CSS is better than TF2, yes, but then I think 1.6 is better than CSS so.. :p

Buy the orange box, and get CSS when it appears on sale would be my advice :)

I already bought OB on PS3 aas it happens, but never got a chance to play TF2 as the servers never worked for some reason :S
I also never even completed HL2 and therefore never got onto playing EP1 or 2 (I wanted to play them in order).

The main comparison is between TF2 and CS:S as I know what the other games "play" like if you will. It seems that OB seems to be the way to go though as I dont have any of the HL's (other than DM and Lost Coast).

Buy Half-Life Generations if you don't have Half Life 1, Opposing Force and Blue Shift, comes with CS too.

Is it essential to have played the first Half Life series?

And agreed, it is very expensive considering its one game (thats the same with TF2 on its own, luckily there's The Orange Box though.

I would go with the orange box, Great single player games and an addicting multi-player game as well. CS:S is good, but you cant beat the value of the orange box.

If you already have Portal perhaps you could use the spare copy you will get through the OB to trade with someone?

Can you trade games on Steam? Wow thats cool (I havent used Steam a lot tbh). But I am pretty sure most people would have taken advantage of the time that Portal was free (just as I did).
Still, if I find someone thats pretty cool.

Can I ask, does The Orange Box come up as one game in the library or 5 separate games as if you bought them induvidualy?

You only get to do that for HL2 and Episode 1. If he gets the Orange box he wont get an extra copy of Portal.

Not really.

Oh neat, it'll make my games collection look bigger :D

And as most (I think it might be all) of you have said Orange Box, it'll be my choice.

Cant wait to get home and buy it now :)

CS:S Is awesome. Amazing online play. Get in a clan, with a ventrilo server, and play with real tactics. It's a great online game. Hense it's the most played PC FPS online. Yes, more than COD:MW2 - although it's close at times.

But it depends..

TF2 will suit you if you're more of a Quake/Unreal Tournament player. Running around while shooting etc. CS:S you must stand still to counter the recoil, it's well paced.

You'll enjoy either.
