I have just received The Orange Box through the post but the game has some Japanese writing on it, has NTSC-J on the disk and box but the manual and most of the other writing on the box is in English.

I tried a search but couldn't find anything. Basically will this work on my PAL machine or have I been screwed? It was bought from a seller in the rainforest.

Thanks for any help :)

:D You would think I could.

To cut a long story short I'm away on holiday later and won't get another chance to post it until after I am back so I wasn't wanting to wait until I tested it later. Cheers Nismo

Wouldn't risk it, isn't NTSC short for "Not Totally Safe for Consoles"?

Bet you'll get 3 red lights when you put it in.

Lies, there are no problems with the 360.

User must just be standing it vertically or in a confined cabinet.

Fanboy!

Mate at the pub told me, he copied a load of NTSC games the other week and all the consoles failed so it must be true.

NO. NTSC-J is the video display standard for Japan, it will not cause damage to your 360. *

*understands you were kidding and is just taking the wizz.

should'nt be a problem
i had the same issue last xmas- my partner bought me the ntsc-j one and after confirmation from the website she bought it from that it was region free, slapped it in the 360 and no probs :-)

I always wondered about this - with it being an NTSC-J version, does this mean that you're more likely to be matched with Japanese players on the multiplayer side of things (i.e. in Team Fortress 2?)

I have just noticed the EA symbol on the front says Hong Kong and Singapore and having matched that version up on another website it should work fine, thanks for the replies guys.

ic1male - I hope not but I have no idea how it works on TF2. I'll have a try when I get in and post back here.

Well the game worked fine as everyone (except J :p) suggested.

ic1male - It never seemed to make any difference to the match making in TF2. I played a few player matches on it, couldn't get any ranked, and everyone was European.

But you shouldn't listen to J in the first place :D

Full of sillyness that guy :|
