I just have to start a new thread for encouraging you to watch a movie called "The Orphan". It's one of the most refreshing and interesting horror movies i've watched for ages. It makes some pretty unexpected twists and turns to avoid becoming too obvious. There are a few cliches but easily forgiven. The excellent performance given by the young girl is one to remember as well.

Like most others, I don't like much US/UK horror, it's predictable and boring but this stands out by a mile. I did manage to figure it out about 10 minutes before "the reveal" but it had been bouncing around my mind the whole movie, one of the better horror movies of this decade.

I watched it last week myself and didnt think too highly of it...its ok-ish but ive seen better....still a good ending though...

Didn't like it myself, the "twist" was predictable and I've never been a fan of movies that use kids as "evil" characters, I think that got old after children of the corn. It's just movie producers trying to be edgy.

I was told this was a good movie with a fantastic and totally obscure ending that I'd never guess, and so I went to see it.

Biggest waste of money and time ever. I guessed the ending close to the begining, almost fell asleep on the girl next to me. There was not a single redeeming point to the movie. In my opinion they made the previews out to be something equally as good as the Omen, but they didn't deliver.

Worst movie I've seen this year. (Well I did go to see another 'horror' and I can't remember what it was, so it had to be equally poor).

The girl who plays the scary orphan is one of the most annoying Americans I've seen on TV in recent years (when I've seen her out of character in interviews etc). And for that reason alone, I'll pass.

I quite enjoyed it. I would have rathered it not take so long to break into the "proper" violence it gets to at the end, but it's worth a watch at least. The ending is one of those "OOOOHHH!!!!" shout-out-loud violent moments.

Decent. Not great, but decent.

Maybe i'm just comparing it to the recent wave of "meh" horror movies over the last 2 years or so, this one really stood out for me. I've watched pretty much every domestic and foreign horror movie over the last decade or so and this year this one was really a standout for me.

I think it helped it that I watched it blind, no trailers, no idea of the premise, just a few words from a friend that it was worth a watch.

I think it is actually a massive help if you watch a film without ever having seen a trailer, hard I know, but it immediately eliminations any preconceptions about that movie, this is one such case.
