The GF and I are going hiking for a week in mid June.

We're only doing stages 1-6 due to time limitations, but stages 6-8 were apparently only created to complete a loop and apparently are not particularly interesting.

We'll be staying in B&B style guesthouses en route.

Has anyone done this hiking route?

Well, even though the ocuk forum community is not mad about this trail, we're all booked to go in a fortnight :)

We'll be flying from Bristol to Berlin, then after a night in Berlin we'll catch a train to Dresden. From here we'll catch a local train to Pirna, the town nearest to the trail head.

After an overnight stay in Pirna, we'll start the hike. A couple of the sections can be completed in one day with a bit of a shimmy, but we're doing one section per day to make it a bit easier. We'll be carrying our kit and walking from B&B to B&B, rather than being based at one hotel and bussing it to the beginning of each section.

We're both looking forward to our first Thru Hike, as the Americans call it :)
