The Pascal GTX 1060 Owners Thread.

Depends on the games you play.

The 1070 is worth saving for as it is a nice bump in performance and can also do SLI.

Having said that I am using one of my 1060s at the moment and was playing Civ6 maxed out @2160p.

Having said that there are a lot games that will make a 1060 struggle at 2160p even with lower settings.

Here is my little FE 1060 @stock running Civ6 maxed out on the in game benchmark @2160p.

If you convert the frametime score to fps it is just under 50fps.

Having said that if I try the same on GOW4 I only get about 13 or 14fps.

Building a gaming itx skylake build for my 34" super wide monitor 3440x1440. Would I be mad to get one of these 1060 on a big monitor. Will the performance suck?
Money is tight but I am a patient man and could wait an extra payday and get a 1070 instead.

1070! Might of been fine if it wasn't an exra wide 3440x1440p and just a standard 1440p screen at medium

Get the 1070 at least I have a 1080 to drive mine. I tried it with a RX480 and while it was better than I expected it certainly wasn't enough grunt.

Next part of my GPU merry go round, the MSI 1060 6GB Armor! (Couldn't really stretch to a GTX 1070 in the end).

So far so good though, nice and quiet and very cool! :) Surprised there's not more 1060 users on this forum, the RX 480 seems the favoured card and having owned both I'm not sure why.

Had a little play with the clocks, got the 2.1Ghz target I hoped to get with +190Mhz in Afterburner. Boosted to 1.9Ghz at stock so seems a decent card and all at 58 Celsius benchmarking in Ungine Valley which is bloody amazing!

Any idea why my voltage is not unlocked? May be able to go over 2.2Ghz with a nudge on the voltage, but the option is greyed out? :(

You need to unlock it in the "settings" in Afterburner :)

It's already ticked as unlocked in settings, I had the setting unlocked on all my other cards just doesn't seem to register using this card. I tried un-ticking and re-ticking see if that made any difference, but nope still the option is not usable! :(

Obvious question I know.
But are you running the latest version of Afterburner?

It might just be that your particular cards are not yet supposed (voltage wise).
I'd have a look at the Afterburner forum over at guru3d.

I want to max out bf1 and at a constant 60fps (I don't have the game yet) my 290 only hit 60fps at medium in the open beta, would the 1060 be a big improvement on a 290? My gut instinct is telling me no due to the price of the card

My 290 averages 90 to 100 in bf1. That's 1200p Ultra preset. I haven't been monitoring on every map though so it could be lower. The reason I ain't monitoring the fps is due to the game running great so no need. The Beta had me at upwards of 80 so something is holding you back and as said above it could be Cpu. Overclock your Cpu to see if it helps.

Make sure to run DX12 as that should help your Cpu.
