The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

Think I might have a problem with my 1070. I went to use my PC yesterday after it had been in sleep mode and the screen wouldn't come on. I reset it and there was still no display even in the bios screen but it sounded like the system was booting ok. After a while I tried to remote desktop to it and logged in. Device manager shows the 1070 with a yellow exclamation mark next to it, and GPU-Z also shows it but without any of the details.

When I get chance I'll try reseating the card but just wondered if anyone else has had something like this happen?

GPU Boost 3.0 automatically does most of the job for you providing power limit and temp targets are kept in check

For example out of the box my Gaming X 1070 boosts to a steady 1934mhz, where the advertised base clock is 1607mhz. If I max out the volts and power target in afterburner I can safely get around another 100mhz which takes me to a steady 2038mhz on the stock fan profile. It will go further with max fans for benchmarking but for every day gaming I stick with that.

So basically yes it auto overclocks but if you're bothered there is a little extra left, although its only really worth a couple of FPS!

Boost is the normal behaviour that is sort of an auto-overclock within a certain set of parameters. My 1070 for instance has a rated boost clock of 1683MHz but runs at 1911MHz out the box (though can drop back a little under certain conditions) - I can then manually overclock it further if I wish upto about 2100MHz (though it sometimes drops back to 202xMHz).

Joining the club, originally wanted a 1080 but with the price sky rocketing - a top of the line 1070 will do nicely instead

I reseated the card and tried a different power connector but it's still not working so I guess it will have to go back. On board graphics works with the same screen and HDMI cable so I know it's not those.

Interesting, thanks. My zotac amp is pretty good on the core and goes over 2100 MHz but I have micron memory and even a not too unreasonable overlock on the memory caused white squares/checkerboard effect.

not really seen any issues with my card which has the micron memory but have done the updates anyway. thanks for the heads up.

Just gone from right to left, and not as impressed as Id hoped, screens seem more "juddery" when scrolling etc than my old card, also it doesnt play WOW in windowed mode half as smoothly.
Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction for something Ive missed

Thanks for the heads up Kaapstad. I have had some issues with my 1070 and was thinking of returning it, but, if this solves the issues then great because it's a fantastic card otherwise.

What CPU?

I went from a 390X to a 1070 FE and saw a massive jump in WOW performance. It's an extremely NVIDIA optimised game, probably the most extreme example of vendor bias out there:

In regard to the smoothness when running windowed mode - do you have another monitor connected? I noticed that I get some stuttering/juddering etc when watching a youtube video on another monitor while gaming on my main monitor. My 390X didn't used to do this, though this seems to be one area NVIDIA struggle with.

Regarding the memory issue: I have EVGA Founders Editions cards, so are these manufactured by Nvidia directly to be reference? Or will the memory have been changed by EVGA?
