The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

No need for lights on a bridge, so this is nice to see. I'm surprised that Asus have put the ROG badge on this though (not that it matters).

Is it normal for a 1070 to show up as a 1080 on everything from boot to GPU-Z?
Installed my new card the other day, I noticed it when i booted the computer up, dismissed it at first but it even shows as being a 1080 in GPU-Z.
Not that i really care either way, i'm just curious, I couldnt be happier with the HUGE performance boost over the old 6950's and the 870m on the laptop, and the old system with the new card is running a treat, nothing i throw at it fazes it.

More shaders than my 1070's 1920 and says GDDR5x so i'd say you have a 1080 by mistake :) all good lucky you!

Wow you got a GTX 1080 for the price of a 1070! Do some benchies and see if it is actually correct, you have the latest update of GPU-Z so I think it's correct, shame about micron memory but I'd take it.

Congrats on the 1080 for 1070 price!! That's what a 1080 should cost anyways so happy days :D where would you stand with warranty though? :/

Hopefully No different, all identifying labels etc say its a 1070, none of the warrenty void stickers have been tampered with, the PCB is covered front and rear with back plate and cooler, pretty difficult to get a good look at anything written on the PCB, I've no intention of removing any of that, but all serial numbers should match with what was sent out from the factory, package was sealed and untampered when it reached me from OCUK.

3DMark graphics card scores on both time spy and firestrike seem to back up what GPUZ is telling me, for all intents and purposes it looks like it genuniely is a 1080...
Seems all very odd, I wonder if they were struggling for stock and sent out some of the poorer clocking 1080's as 1070's? i've no intention of Overclocking it so i'm happy either way.
I'll just put it down to being lucky and hope it dosnt cause issues later down the line. :)

Probably a screwup on their end - I had it once the other way around which was an absolute pain to prove lol but got there eventually.

So folks... Which 1070 should I aim for?

Not super fussed with over clocking etc. Just want nice reliable, quiet performance (ie: low fan noise and no coil whine etc), with a unit that ideally doesn't burst into flames (EVGA)?

MSI Gaming X?

I got rid of my EVGA and replaced it with a zotac amp.

It's quiet, cool and well built. Zero coil whine too.

Very happy with it.
