The Pascal GTX 1070 Owners Thread

Was going to ask if EVGA still had the issues of over heating as I was planning on buying the FTW Edition tomorrow. Worth waiting for the FTW2, or go with an MSI version?

Surely they all come with the missing thermal pad now?!?!

Clearly EVGA seem to be acknowledging an issue? You'd hope they quicky adjusted the production line to include the thermal pads etc? You'd think!?

That's the video I saw too, doesn't seem too hard. And there's a S/N page on EVGA to see if you have an affected model.

Ordered one for tomorrow, should be a small increase of performance from a 6950

feel bad for folk with the 1080/70 acx cards as resale value will deffo take a hit now when the time comes wont it.

This exactly. Evga have really taken a dump on their customers if you ask me.

Glad i got a refund on mine and replaced it with a zotac.

Really? Linkage? Because personally, if you get one of the affected ones I'd just send it straight back!?

So I assume that means the production line now fits teh thermal pads?

According to EVGA support their page will tell you if your card has the bios update and/or the thermal pad update - http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/

All cards they produced from 1-Nov onwards, have both. Obviously there may be some older ones in circulation (on shelves).

Anyway, the impression was he (Evian) doesn't want to get the current FTW so got the (more expensive) Gigabyte Xtreme 1070... From what I understand they're about the same performance/overclock etc... But the EVGA is quieter...

Well regardless of the upcoming FTW2's I went with the Gigabyte because it cools better than the EVGA FTW, Which could possibly mean it holds a higher overclock with the way pascal downclocks at certain temps and it also has no thermal issues alas the FTW2 about to release, I did not buy my card from here.. The Xtreme elsewhere is cheaper than the FTW here.

Fair enough... I've never really been that interested in eeking out the maximum overclocking out of a card TBH. If you get 98fps instead of 95fps who cares, and if you're down at 30fps, what will 1 more fps mean?


Anyhow, will be interesting to see what the FTW2 and SC2 model offer than the currents ones don't etc...

Well, as EVGA have confirmed all these cards (eg: SC and FTW) from Nov 1st onwards now have thermal pads etc fitted... And if you're in any doubt just type your serial no. in here - http://www.evga.com/thermalmod/
