This is to replace my MSI GTX 970 and i'm looking forward to installing it. I've got a 21:9 and the 970 has been struggling for a fair bit. The 1070 is going to make such a difference!

Evening. Has been a while since I've been here - haven't upgraded anything in a while! Anyhow, I'm looking to upgrade my 780 to a 1070. What are generally regarded as the best options on the block? Thanks.
 
Zotac GTX1070AMP Extreme

Hi Guys
Ran 3DMark tonight, had the fan control on auto and recorded the high temp readings in GPUZ said that it hit 85 deg c but the fans didn't come on?
Can run fans manually and when I'm gaming the fans do come on. Any ideas what happened when running 3dMark?

GPU-Z sometimes records a bizarre, spkit-second reading waaay higher than is really the case.

My 290x maxes out at 72 degrees stable but GPU-Z records it at over 130 degrees for a second or less.

It's either a glitch, or something is wrong. Try MSI afterburner for the same purpose and see what happens.

Either the Zotac Extreme or the Palit Super Jetstream. Try and avoid any card with micron memory. MSI have confirmed that they have quality issues with their Gaming X so I wouldn't touch one those if I was you.

Not sure about it being the best but I have always enjoyed using Gigabytes motherboards and GPU's.

Their UK based support and returns is amazing when I have needed to use them, very quick as well.

I bought a Gigabyte Gaming 1070 and it runs perfectly fine. The card is not heavy and is no where near as long as the humongous Zotac Amp Extreme. No sag for me, it also fits into my case.

From what I understand it is a bit of a lottery how well it will clock but they are all maxing out about the same. Mine seems to boost somewhere near 2070mhz when fully utilised.

Amp extreme is a massive card so make sure you measure your case.
Palit has 2y warranty nothing wrong with it just pointing out.

I'm comtemplating getting a 1080 from the MM. I agree, Gigabyte support is good i have used it before.

How are you supposed to avoid micron memory when buying though? It seems pretty much all 1070s manufacturers have switched to it in the last month or so from what I've read.
 
So I'm 99% certain I'm going to be replacing my 970 with a 1070 this week. Having a look through the ones on sale I'm struggling to work out why I would go for anything other than the KFA2 EX OC? It's only £20 more than the very cheapest, seems to have a good cooler, and a back plate, yet has clock speeds almost as high as some of the £420 cards.
