The Pascal GTX 1080 Owners Thread

I'm loving my MSI Gaming X 1080s - they are utterly quiet/silent, and two of these in SLI is around about a 2.5x jump in performance over my single old (trusty) Asus GTX 970.

I'm using 2 x ribbon bridges currently, but tomorrow I'm getting the official Nvidia HB SLI bridge.

Is there any point posting performance differences between ribbon bridge vs. 2 ribbons, or has that been done to death already? (I'm running an i7-6700K with Z170 Asus Maximus mobo).

Whats the GPU temps like tho?

I'm testing this right now. My case is a Fractal Design R5 with standard case fans as supplied, so generally a slow quiet intake of air. I'm running the Witcher 3 at 4K with ultra settings on everything, no AA and no hairworks. I'm getting a solid 60 fps.

Card 1 is running at 82'C with fan at 2000 RPM (81%), GPU load 68%.
Card 2 is running at 72'C with fan at 1400 RPM (57%), GPU load 83%

I find it unusual that the card with the highest temps & fan speed has the lower GPU load? Memory speed/heat in GPU-Z seems very similar.

With the above running, the fans do perk up a bit but it's still a quiet fan noise. Very impressive.

The load thing - I think is simply a driver issue and should be sorted.

Another thing to try - I read a thread either here or elsewhere, where disabling Geforce Experience (either by uninstalling or simply exiting the program) saw an improvement in SLI scaling. Worth a try.

Get them both at 100% usage, that top card will be hitting 90c no problem ;) :D

Temps have been good 71c is the highest I've seen with fan speed 40% Yes you can shut off LED's on GF experience.

This card is a beast! I have a Acer X34a 3440x1440p Ultra-Wide all games I've played so far all ultra settings. It's rips a new one with this card. Boost 2050 mhz out of the box. No need to OC. Card is super quiet and no coil whine. Very happy:D

Are you sure it does 2050mhz? and not just 2050mhz for a few seconds or in unigene valley? In the reviews the FTW all boost to 1950mhz, yours might I am not saying you are lying but have you tested with multiple games for a few hours and watched the clockspeed? It should be about 1950mhz not 2050mhz. For example you are saying that your FTW will stay at 2050mhz out of the box if you loop firestike ultra ?

Boost 3 magic ;)

The day finally came... Had do some quick bends to change my loop and remove the 980Ti from my hardline, because damn these cards are big. Waiting on the EK blocks to release then I'll add them in. Ordered the HB bridge to replace the horrid looking ones, just realised I need a different size so will reorder tomorrow!
Are you aware of this on EK's website?

"New NVIDIA® SLI HB bridges are not compatible with this water block. You can still use regular SLI bridge that comes with every SLI supported motherboard."

I'm using an EVGA Pro V2 bridge with the EK waterblocks on my 780s, and even then had to remove the plastic shroud (fortunately 100% aesthetic rather than functional) before it would fit.

Yep, if i'm being honest I also ordered the wrong size (couldnt fit them as planned) so its going back anyway.

The Nvidia one fits if you chop off its fins ;)

I have an EVGA V2 pro bridge and fits just fine on my 980Ti's and now 1080's aswell.

I suspect the new EVGA HB will fit fine too although I'm certainly interested in the EK one as I'm sure it's going to look good.

Mine boosts to 2050Mhz at times but then settles at around 1947Mhz IIRC. Fantastic card though, set it to the aggressive fan profile in Precision XOC which keeps it at around 61-63c whilst gaming.

Wearing closed back headphones (DT770s) so I cannot hear the fans at all.

I'm just gutted I cancelled my Strix pre-order whilst all the AMD 480/490 speculation was going on, it is now £130 more and I now want one :(

I paid the release price but didnt realise that the price had gone up over 100 quid!! Im 122 in the queue and have been up around there since release.

That doesnt say much. Wearing my closed headphones i cant hear my water cooling system with all 11 fans on 100%............my gf can though ;)
