What tools are people using for over clocking, still After Burner?
Is it normal for these 1080GTX cards to reach 98C under load in MSI Kombustor in roughly 4 seconds with ice cold water flowing over the core with a freshly acid cleaned shiny VGA block?
Got the same results twice after rebuilding with EVGA paste and then AS5. Way too hot to risk using it. I've never seen temps above 60C on a GPU before.

May as well get on the rollcall![]()
Nice one, I hope you have fun with your new card. What resolution are you going to be mainly gaming at?.
No not at all. Sounds to me like it's not even touching the block. Both my cards rarely go over 40c at this time of year.
Ensure it's actually making contact and is a fully compatible block.
I got it for VR but on desktop its 3440x1440 on a 34" LG.

Interested to know what card you have switched from and how the VR performance looks.
Ah nice one. The reason I asked was your CPU but at that resolution you're a lot better off than 1080p.
I guess its not a CPU that would normally be paired with a 1080 for VR, I have been looking building a dedicated VR rig based on a new Intel chip but not decided which one to go for yet.
True but it is more of a problem below 2560x1440, at your resolution the GPU is taking the majority of the load. It'll tide you over easily I'd imagine so probably best to wait for Ryzen to be released before upgrading as you will have more to choose from and if the AMD CPU is a performer, it may also reduce the outlay for both Intel and AMD.
May as well get on the rollcall

I've re-seated it 3 times.
Most of the Kombustor GPU tests crash.
Lakes of Titan caused a loud whine sound reaching 33C before crashing.
1M particles crashes at 41C after 3 seconds.
