NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Update – $499 US Price and 11 GB/s G5X Memory
The first update is for the GeForce GTX 1080 which was NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce offering before the 1080 Ti launch. This card was launched last year and more details on that could be seen here. NVIDIA launched the card at $699 US for the Founders Edition and $599 US for custom variants. A year later, NVIDIA will be offering a price update and will sell the card for just $499 US which is impressive.

With the latest price drop i thought I'd sell the 1070 and buy a 1080 for not more than £70 more! Thought it was a good deal, too good to pass up, water block pretty installed.

Full water system to construct!!
 
I've had my EVGA 1080 ftw hybrid for about 4 months now and still loving it. Been watching video reviews of the 1080ti and the custom cards are getting up to about 40% faster than the 1080fe. Wish i waited for the inevitable 1080ti hybrid card.
Won't bother upgrading it for one of those, but i have definitely learned to wait for the next time, wait for the to.
Saying that i love my card, it plays everything amazingly with ease.

If you game at 1440p or lower then the 1080 is going to last you a fair while anyhow :)

It's only because I run a 3840x1600 resolution that I went for a Ti tbh! And I'm glad because it's a great match :cool:

Shame no Freesync though. You are stuck like me without it :p
 
If it slots in between 1080 and ti, at £400, that will smash nvidia were it hurts. The Ti is so overpriced, as was the 1080 even it came out, unbelievable how they charged so much! And look at it now, half the price almost.

Ti at 600 for non reference is were it should be, and I'm guessing will be if amd can pull out a peach! Waiting waiting waiting.

Like i said, 1080 for 450-500 is a good deal at the moment. I'm guessing they will be sub 400 after amd's release.

Mainly due to the falling pound. $699 would have been £500-600 (same as 980Ti) if it was last year.
