He's saying that the issue is only with the gaming X card. And then comparing that 107% to the 120% draw on the FE. Saying he's never seen an AIB with a lower power limit than reference.

Even though they cannot be compared to each other because they are both different wattage cards.

The MSI does have a greater power limit than the FE.

So far looks like I’m the only one who’s admitted to buying 2 of them :D

I was a bit disappointed as I did not receive any Haribo as they just sent the MSI box with 2 units in straight to me :(

I will slightly address the elephant in the room of the Constant fan Revving issue's that the 1080 FE's apparently have, which doesn't seem to be linked to anything, it just REVVS up and then back down every so often while in games.

Both my cards do it individually a lot with SLi off, and both cards do it a lot less when it is turned on.

Nvidia have addressed it, and say they are working on a fix.

Not sure if I can link another forum? It is the Nvidia official forum with reference to this problem - mods can remove if so

For me it is on a 3440x1440 monitor. Typically on games like the new TR I was getting 45fps, now I can get 60 ish with the same settings and more with an easy OC. FYI, I put the 980Ti into a spare computer that I was assembling as a 'Steam Machine' sitting under my TV - so I was in the market for a new card anyway.

This is an extended bench of the Witcher 3 with stock and OC profiles (I was testing out to see if it really did thermally throttle ... it does not!!)





I also don't get any 'revving' with my card.
