They probably want to keep the length in check and also some of them are shorter but higher so gives a bit of option for people who have length limitations.

Plus this way you can get bigger fans on which usually means quieter operation :)

Just my guess :)

Yeah, it's just another way to add a beefier cooling solution without resorting to a triple-fan card. Same with thicker cards that take up 2.5-3 slots. The Palit/Gainward Jetstream/Phoenix models have both and it looks almost comically-oversized as a result.

It's very cool and quiet because of that though, so I guess there's really no reason not to have a card that big if your case can accomodate it.

Agreed. I would rather have bigger heatsinks and bigger slower fans and hence a silent card.

No good if you are after SLI but plenty of choice out there if that floats your boat.

That actually doesn't look half bad! I really have no need to upgrade as my 980Ti still smashes the game I'm playing. I guess one good thing about a card that big is for a Micro case owner who doesn't have an interest in SLi, it'll have a superb cooling solution, also allowing the clocks to be pushed.

...don't need to upgrade...don't need to upgrade :eek::eek:

I think it looks like a part for an old ford or something, dated and horrible.

Where did you purchase from or is this card not sold in UK/EU? The backplate is much nicer than the cheap looking amps.

I got this card online from China (I go between UK and China often). Zotac delivered their GTX 1080 stocks first to China as there is a major shopping festival on 18th June.

I agree the card looks way better than the extreme gamer designs and the RGB is not over the top.

Edit - removed major Chinese shop name, probably can be seen as a competitor

Here's mine. The GLH edition.
I tried running Heaven benchmark and the boost clock hovers from 1980-2025 out of the box and the max temp is 70C with 35% fan speed. Good card.

YAY, it's here!!!!!! (spurt) :D
Originally ordered the MSI Armor, but changed to flounders because life's too short to be waiting with uncertainty. Must say though, loving the look and feel of it. Reeks of quality...
