The Pascal GTX 1080 Owners Thread

Got my Palit 1080 Gamerock Premier Edition today. £619 with free Saturday delivery not too bad.
Out the box it boosts to 2000mhz and throttles back to 1974mhz when it hits 60c under load, It never went above 64c on default fan settings.

I used the guru3d review overclock settings
Temp Target 95 Degrees C
CPU clock +40 MHz
Mem clock +255 MHz
Voltage +70%
Power limiter 120%

It boosts to 2050mhz and stays there under load. Using custom fan profile It stays at 55c at 60% fan speed.

Will try push it a bit further later

This card chews up BF1 @ 3440*1440 for breakfast, hopping along 95/100fps maxed out, if I run 50% resolution scaling (42% standard) and still pulls 80fps+, 60% see's 60fps+ all depends how crisp you want it to look.

I bought this card for BF1 and pleased I did.

So you managed to get it then! :p

I was suprised how well a single card copes aswell. Runs great.

Yeah some-one on here kindly let me borrow their account for pretty much the weekend. The 1080 was born to play BF1 in 3440*1440 such a sweet config. Didn't know whether to swap my TX in for a 1080 but was worried about the low FPS maxed out the TX might bring, there is no low FPS with the 1080 :-)

Yeah - tested them for around 30 minutes under Heaven/Valley/Firestrike and The Division on air, although I put them on 75% fan (it was really just to test which card I'd use as my primary).

The overclock at the moment hasn't really changed - although I'm sure that it would have been different had I left the fans on standard over any length of time, as under water they're consistent with the overclock - I reckon they'd have dipped due to thermals on air.

What did change under water was the stock boost speed on both cards - they went from 1923 & 1948 on air to both on 1991mhz under water. Hopefully with a bit of oc tweaking now (as GPU boost 3.0's a bit diff to 2.0) I'll get a little more oc headroom. In a typical ASIC way (not that Pascal has a ASIC....), the slightly poorer clocking card uses slightly more voltage than the better clocking card.
Much Thanks for your reply...:)

Rap1D, very nice!! Can you do me a favour and tell me if you get any very slight stuttering in Division in comparison for one card? Happened on the Ti SLi for me, especially when I had PCSS and HBAO+ turned on....

I really want another card (then I won't have to bother with the 1080Ti/Titan), but am afraid the above will happen again :(

Can someone clarify something about Fast Sync?

Is it still better than Vsync on demanding games (as in games which would normally be about 10-20% more fps than the screen frequency).

had my g1 gaming a day now done +150 on gpu and +300 on mem and its rock solid stable.. been playing GTA 5 and new tomb raider on max settings and its super smooth with gsync on an x34..

feels like ive got a new pc upgrading from a 970!

Had a 980ti SLi previous which did stutter as you say very slightly, just been playing the division for the last couple of hours and don't notice it now with the 1080's. Both single and SLi stutter on the benchmark though.

Hope I am OK to post this here as well as the general YouTube video thread :) In this video, I compare various games on my old two GTX980Ti cards in SLI, versus my single MSI GTX1080 Gaming X.

Ok thanks for the info man, very intrigued! Are you using a Double-bridge at all or just a normal ribbon?

Def try it with PCSS/HBAO on if possible, but I'm guessing you already are ;)

TangoEchoAlpha what game is this screenshot from ?

SLI 980ti = 42fps
Single GTX 1080 = 142fps

No idea what game that was
