The PC equivilent of this Mac CPU :)

Im looking at getting a iMac it has these specs


700mhz G4 cpu
512mb ram
160GB hdd

its pretty cheap just wondering is this just the same as 700mhz AMD or Intel or a rougth guess on what it would preform like? thanks

Probably a pentium 4 betwewen 2.0 and 2.2GHz at a very rough guestimate.

I seriously doubt that, maybe Pentium 3 1.2Ghz or as said ^ Athlon 1-1.2ghz

its not really that far off imo, as the pentium 3 1200 must be close to or beat a tbird 1400 which isnt far off an xp1600 which is about as fast as a p4 2000.

which again isnt far off a 2500+ which nearly matchs a 3ghz p4, again close to 3200+ athlon 64 which is similar to a Pentium D 805, when thats overclocked it matches the X2 4400+ which is damn close to an FX-62

Mac OS is far more efficient. It will perform far better than an equivalent intel/amd processor because of this. I have a Powermac Dual processor 1.8 G5 and that is far nicer to use and smoother than my 2.9 Opteron 165 which is dual core running Windows XP.
