putting windows XP home on this system the ram wont fully work or something? are things not as good when windows XP home is installed or is that just a rumour? does the os make a difference on the performance

if you are referring to using the whole 6gb of memory then only a 64bit os will utilise it.

As above, you will need the 64bit version to utilise all the memory.

Is Windows 7 still available for download?! If so you could download the trial and use that.

You'll be able to use just over 3GB with a 32 bit O/S. As someone else has already told you, download the 64 bit version of the latest Windows 7 beta and use that for free. Your PC will then be able to use all of the 6GB RAM.

Oh, and Windows 7 will play games perfectly well, I've certainly had no issues.

I went from XP home to Vista 64bit about 7 - 8 months ago. Never had any trouble playing games.

Actually it's only XP Professional that has an x64 version, Home doesn't.

Win7 x64 should do perfect, simply google "Win7 release client download" and it should be the first link.

Think i might wait for it to be released myself and then install the 64bit version, as I only installed vista recently.

If i'd have known that earlier I would've installed 64bit straight away XD

are all pieces of hardware supported with 64bit drivers these days?
I remember i installed xp pro 64bit ages ago, and like couldnt install a lot of my stuff like the wireless because of a lack of available drivers!
