Anyone else going this year?

Got an email today saying that Pete Souza (Obama's WH Photographer) is doing a talk on Saturday, so booked a ticket!

Everything else gear wise is a bonus.

I'll be going for a couple of days as I do every year, always enjoy the show and usually have a shopping list :)

Booked tickets yesterday. Not sure what day I’ll be going yet. Weren’t ticket day specific last year?

Yeah I am going this year also. Need to have a look at the talks that are on and see what I fancy.

I've never been to these.

Good for deals? After a new tripod and head.
Are the shows catered to all levels? Don't particularly want to go back to basics.

Those who have been, what do you tend to get out of it?

Last year I went because I wanted to see a talk by Rosie Hardy

And end up getting a Sony A73 at the show, it was an advance release and I had it like a month before everyone else, even YouTube vloggers. If you are looking to try out all kinds of tripods and heads in person, and your local store are rubbish selection then it is good for a visit. However that of course depends how far you are away. Some people travel from NI and stay a couple of nights. Personally I don't know if there are enough to see for 2-3 days unless you go to every talk, but there is certainly enough to hold my interest for a day.

Thanks.

My parents live around the corner so it's easy for me to go. Are there decent discounts?

Some, not guaranteed. It depends on what you are looking for. A lot of the stand are trades stand like Photo Albums to see samples, or Sigma stand to see new unreleased lenses like last year I saw the Sigma 105/1.4 before it was released etc. Camera World etc has stands there where you can buy, there are some deals, my Sony had a discount if bought with an adaptor which I got but that deal was also online too. So yes and no, yes there are deals but no it isn't always better than what you can find online.
