****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

When I first saw it i thought it was ugly but now theres some more pics it doesn't look that bad, it is starting to grow on me. Just waiting to see how much these will be available for and what bundles we will see.

Just got in from work, love it, day one for me, look how thin it is, that's crazy !
 
Slim looks nice when looked upon by the side but quite frankly the top of it looks absolutely vile.

Old one still has the edge, I really don't see the point of them making the slim thinner but almost the same size in length.

If anything people would prefer to have them if they took up less space, unless you have a very low down TV cabinet of some sort it's really going to make sod all difference, it will just look a lot uglier when sitting down.

so many are saying Sony have listened to the fans out there and made this smaller and less prone to scratches/finger prints

other reasons could be that they are using cheaper components/parts, to make a "cheaper" built PS3 so they can make more of a margin per unit?
 
Where is the fan exhaust on the slim :confused:

And lol at the 74W power use compared to 200W of my 60GB PS3, it must be really quiet.
 
The fact it's slim is nice but I prefer the look of the bigger one. The top of the slim 'looks' like cheap black plastic! (which I guess it probably is)

Having bought and sold a PS3 in the past, I am getting tempted again now that price drops are on their way. I just need more games to convince me, the only one so far is Uncharted 2 as I absolutely loved the first one.

Some big game websites are very cheeky. Advertising pre-orders of the Slim for 249.99 and even uploaded pics of it, but from the same conference they have not reduced their old PS3 and are selling them at £299.

Place I bought my launch PS3 from and that do the earliest pre-order deliveries still showing old prices :(

I'm really starting to to like the look of it more and more now. Just looks so sleek and thin. Don't think I'll get one unless my overweight PS3 dies.

I wonder if the Slim design will change peoples perspectives on the system and boost sells? It defiantly looks more like a straight up multi-media device now that they've stuck all the logos on the front.

+1. People almost always fail to mention this when comparing the physical aspects of modern consoles.

If I was up for the PS3 slim then the advantages for me would be :-

Quieter (important when watching blu-rays)
Cheaper to buy
Cheaper to run
Cooler (temp)
Would look much slicker in my front room

Advantages for Sony are :-

Costs less to manufacture
Costs less to transport worldwide
They will sell more due to price cuts
 
I wonder if this new model will break any games. :D IIRC, the PS2 slim had minor issues with some of the existing PS2 catalogue.
