It's over.

I know plenty of people around here have been posting about it since October... was it all you hoped and wished for? :p

As far as I'm concerned the last few days were certainly not anything worth getting excited about three months in advance.

I dont even think about Christmas (even though we are constantly reminded of it everywhere) until the 1st of December, so its not seemed too bad to me.

At least we dont have to listen to that "its beginning to look a lot like Christmas" Argos advert anymore!!!

And mine was ok, would have been nice to win the footy yesterday, but never mind.

Didn't start thinking about Christmas until December, didn't even have a plan until the 19th for the day so no build up and hype for me.

Despite my Grandad not being very well, and doing some pretty substantial damage to my car, the day was still good and well worth it in my mind. Got thoroughly drunk, caught up with family, saw friends, ate lots and got spoiled rotten. First Christmas in a long while I've actually enjoyed - so yep, despite the above it was all I could have hoped and wished for.

On the upside, Grandad is now on the mend and the car is booked in to get sorted... bring on the ritual thrashing of the hire car. :)

Commercialism is responsible for making people expect something magical (regardles of previous experience), thus it will always be an anti-climax for most people.

Who though? Unless your a child surely you should expect what will happen over Christmas thus not expecting anything out of the ordinary.

I can only think it of an anti-climax for people if they didn't get what they wanted!

Brilliant Christmas for me. Spending time with the family which was just what was needed and doing very little :)

Didn't think too much about Christmas until after the 21st...had my head down working until then.

Christmas was good for seeing family members, spending time with my nan and generally making it a special day for her. Gifts that brought back her memories of years gone by, and actually brought her to tears in gratitude which was very humbling to say the least.

It doesn't feel Christmassy any more, but it was good anyway.

What a cynical thread.

I wasnt excited three months before christmas as I didnt let myself be and ignored things that were.

I had a great christmas though, thanks.

Christmas was off the radar until work finished, so I wasn't having sleepness nights beforehand thinking about how magical it would be! As Andybtsn says, I'd be suprised if any grown up expected this spell to be significantly more than an opportunity to relax with family before the new year and eat/drink more than usual. I've been able to do just that, so it has been great so far :)

Christmas day itself was actually quite nice, got to see me parents and all of my mates from back in southampton.

Boxing day was a whole other story.

My Christmas was much like I expected it to be, fairly quiet with some of the family around, everyone had a good time and it is always a nice chance to catch up. The Christmas part of it is rather incidental to the whole getting together and catching up which isn't something that we always have time to do as much as we'd like.
