Well after all the hardware horror stories I thought I was safe when my MacBook arrived and everything worked fine. But this morning I put a CD in the drive and it wont read it
You can hear the laser tracking and going from side to side trying to read it but eventually it just gives up and ejects the CD.
With DVDs it's slightly different, it spins them up, then down, then up, then down, then gives up and ejects them too. Interestingly it will still write blank CDs, but wont verify them afterwards.
I've had it for about 2 weeks
Now the really annoying part - this is my only PC at the moment, I bought it to replace a dying laptop that has now given up completely. I don't want to be without this for weeks while they repair it, especially when the next uni term starts and I start getting work to do. But I also can't put up with no disc drive because it's basically my media centre as well.
What are my options? Can I take it to an Apple store and have it fixed/replaced there even though I bought it online? I'm so gutted right now
