Thought it would be an idea to collate some timelapses in one thread, so that we can share techniques and critique.

This is something that has grabbed my interest recently and hopefully others too. I'm no expert but I'll start with a short timelapse I made of the Brisbane river taken from day to night in an apartment balcony.

Available in 1080p
Settings:
F-stop 7.1
Exposure time 2 sec
ISO 200

Feel free to critique, ask questions and share your own work! :)

Do you have any going forward a bit longer to sun rise?

Unfortunately not, didn't get much time to do timelapses during my holiday due to a busy schedule. Also the sunrise was about 100 degrees to the left with a bit of a boring view.

great idea for a thread! I love timelapse videos. Its something I Really want to try myself.

Should give it a go! I really like the work you do, especially your previous months entry, fantastically complex and well executed. The timelapse I have done is very simple in comparison. :)

Nice video, how did you work out the exposure settings for both day and night?

I just set the exposure for the start of the timelapse and left it at that, it gives a more natural feel as otherwise the camera will try to compensate often resulting in the timelapse flickering if you for example leave AWB on. I found it was important to set and leave everything manually (turn off all the automatic settings) to make the timelapse smooth.

Hope that helps.

That's the first and last time i'm doing a timelapse manually.. lol. Don't have a timer remote, so I shot every about 2 seconds, give or take lol, for over an hour. Couldn't use a tripod, so my arm aches now :(
But i'm really pleased with the result considering it's the first time i've tried anything like this. Will have to wait until september before i can get it sorted though because i'm not at home.

Just a quick question.. do I do a batch post processing of simple tweaks? Or just leave it as is?

You took shots every 2 seconds for an hour manually without a tripod, that's 1800 clicks. lol you hero! I'd never have attempted that.

I got an interval timer remote for £20, and a nice tripod for £33 off ebay. Pretty much essential for timelapses.

It's quite easy to do a batch process for the photos, although I don't think I've bothered thus far with the few attempts I've had.

Here's a video that I took some advice on for timelapses, it includes some quick batch processing.
