Anyone heard of this tv miniseries called "the prisoner 2009" ?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1043714/

Plot:
A New Yorker awakens to find himself in a place called The Village run by a man known as Two. As everyone in The Village is referred to only by a number, everyone in The Village refers to him as Six - despite he himself knowing that he has another name - and seems to know who he is. He is told he lives in The Village and that The Village is the only reality there is. Six's mission becomes to find out where The Village is, who Two is and why he is seemingly keeping him prisoner in The Village (despite Two stating that Six is a free man), and how he can escape to his life back in New York. Six has to learn who among the Villagers he can trust - who include a doctor named 313, a cab driver named 147, and Two's own son named 11-12 - in his quest to escape from The Village. Six also has recurring memories of his life in New York, including an encounter with a woman named Lucy, which may be part of the key to discovering why he's in The Village

Mrs Nelson recorded the first one it so we watched it last night. Won't be bothering with the rest of them.

It seemed like it was trying to be mysterious & enigmatic a la Lost, Flash forward, etc, but it just ended up being jumpy & not particularly engaging. Plus, that Dr has a wierd top lip!

I would generally agree, but watching this brought back to me just how bad the original was too.

Wont be watching any more i dont think.

The original was epic. McGoohan and Leo McKern both play 6 and 2 brilliantantly. I felt that the actor playing 6 in the new series wasn't anywhere near as strong as McGoohan. However Sir Ian McKellen did add some graitas (sp?) as No. 2

Agreed, he has doesn't hold the position very well at all, and screaming out i'm a free man just seemed cliché! Its also to Americanised for my liking.
I'll give the 2nd episode a go but im not holding my breath.

I'm surprised but I am quite liking it! :o seems to be better when you don't immediately make comparisons to the original (or anything else). Too much story has been introduced for 6 episodes though.

Edit: got picked up for a second season :o

Im also a watcher of this.

As said not as good as the original but it was so along ago I watched it I dont remember a lot of it and cant make direct comparisons between the new and old.

The problem is, too many people will see this without any knowledge of the original and think "Wow, awesome!"

When in fact they should be thinking "Meh..."

Interesting timing... I've just been in Portmeirion filming a Prisoner themed music video for my band's forthcoming album "Six Against Eight". Have only recently gotten into the old Prisoner (man is it good... if a bit of a head-mash!) and can't bring myself to watch the old one...!

If anyone's interested, here's a video of us playing a Dangerman/Prisoner medley, followed by our single at the Prisoner Convention at Portmeirion from the other weekend:
