Some of you will remember my thread on my computer not starting. The PSU is old and barely enough to keep the rig going and it is the first thing that will need upgrading on the next upgrade, so I want to start with this peice first.

Rig is:
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.00GHz (800FSB) - Retail (overclocked)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Enermax 485W PSU

So I don't want to pay too much and certainly not too little. My next upgrade in about a years time will probably include a much more powerful processor and one of the good graphics cards that will fit my mobo. So I know I am looking at a minimum of 600W.

I would like to spend 80 quid or something, but if I would be better off paying more perhaps 120 quid then I can do that. I don't want to be paying a premium for the latest technology, but then 2 years down the line I don't want to be told my PSU is rubbish and won't power a lightbulb.

Suggestions?
 
I know wattage isn't everything, but with the extra £40 what am I buying? Is it a longer lasting PSU or is it just more capable of running the middle range cards in a couple of years time (so that'll be roughly the top end cards now).
 
This is my issue! PSU's just aren't as strict as processors or graphics cards in that the more you pay the better you get argument. If I buy this £60 one will it be ok to buy one of the good GTX cards later on?
