get the EVGA cards now and do the step up prgramme with them and get the DX10 when they come out by just payign the diffrence?

You know something we don't know??? When are the DX10 cards coming out...afaik not in 3 months....

Installed my 7950 yesterday. What a beast.

I only managed 6507 in 3DMark 06 though. I think I'm seriously bottle-necked by my CPU, an Opteron 150 currently running at 2760Mhz. When it was at stock speeds (2.4Ghz) I scored 6083.

Your score will be lower in 06 due to your cpu only being of the single corew variation (06 is heavily optimized to take advantage of dual core) For example I can beat your stock score with a single X1900XT @ XTX with a X2 3800+ @ 2.6Ghz.

It is quite suprising just how much of a difference it makes.

Yeah my score above beats it while only running @ 2.2. But in real world situation i think your system would have the most benefit. cpu bottleneck is horrible lol cant wait till mine is burnt in and i can have a look what it can do

I'm shocked as well. The highest I've had it was about 2900Mhz but it wasn't stable at all.

I might give it another go though and put more volts through it.

wait is not quad sli not a gimmick, because from what i have read games have to be programmed to use sli, ie 2x graphics cards. Now most games if not all are not programmed for quad sli.

or am i missing something?

The driver issue should now have been addressed meaning that you will see an advantage using Quad (not convinced that the 8xsli on the Royale board is working yet though  )

im running quad-sli

have the eVGA 7950X2

ForceWare Release 90
Version: 91.37
Release Date: July 19, 2006
BETA Driver for Quad NVIDIA SLI technology

not seen much if any improvement over my 7800 XFX XXX in sli - tbh even with a cpu change from the AMD 4000+ to the AMD 4800X2

before you ask why the change they were replacements for my faulty 7800 rma back to OC, BTW thankyou very much :p

Sure is, I score 9.3+k in 06 now with my setup.

Im sure it will get better as well when newer drivers are released.

Strangely enough I still find the XG 91.31 drivers the best still for 06 and BF2 performance. I think the 91.37 drivers quite slow, I only score about 8.5k in 06 and BF2 is not as smooth.

Just got a standard Gigabyte 7950GX2 as I thought my X1900XT could be holding back my connie.

This is first run with stock everything. Is this right? Seems low considering the CPU score.

Good! Thats pretty much the score I get.

But your CPU score is HUGE! I'm almost tempted to go.. No, wait. I'm not. But still, DANG! Nice man!

nice scores there, what are your gpu clocks?

heres my effort:

gpu at 600/800, cpu @ 2.93

Minty score madness! But I happen to know some thing about your CPU... Are we per chance running a Kentsfield, maybe..? Got a bit of "quad core" action going on?

Hehe.

As for my card, its a stock XFX XXX edtion, core is 570 and mem is 775. I could clock more but I worry about the heat 'cos its just stock headsinks.

What are you using?

Agent.

cheers yup, im using the default cooler, applied some as5 and got good quiet airflow in the case :) temps are good and low too 600/800, core does more but i think 600 is the max i wll take it on air, memory slider is max 800.

What make of card is your maddness ?

Im tried running my mem at 775, no artifacts in ati tool but 3dmark06 just blackscreens, im down to 765 now, it runs but i noticed the odd artifact. Gonna keep backing down. I always seem to get crappy cards.

Added two fans next to the cards to draw some of the heat away.
