and you know this because you have one and have been playing it long enough to determin that "it crashes a lot"

I have played on 2 and whitnessed a third crash 5 times in an hour and one of the 2 I played came up with an actual error message during boot up.

I think we will see similar issues on the ps3 as we have seen with the 360

Yeah but in all fairness we dont know if those where debug units, and they where not in a home environment.

I do think the PS3 will have its fair share of crashes, but i honestly dont think we will see people on there 3rd and 4th PS3's in quite as large a quantity as we have with the xbox

I'd be gobsmacked if as many PS3's appear to go wrong like the Xbox360's.
Saying that, if my PS3 is as solid for 12 months as my Xbox360 has been I'll be a happy chappy.

Whos knows the rush to make blu ray diodes could make the drives to under perform or break, things like that do happen.
Oh absolutely, nothing is impossible. Like I've stated here, I've had 1x Xbox and 1x Xbox360, but I've had 5x Playstations and 2x Playstation2's.

I've had a 2 x PS2 and Xbox and an XBox 360 from launch, the PS2s was the GT3 Aspec pack and then I got a Silver PS2 both where great but lost interest in the games.

the bottom one is better, better colours, more detail in the background, better road textures, a pond at the bottom, i could go on - i will, grass is better, kerbside stones are better, race times and postion looks more 3D than a flat image in the PS3 screen and probably image could be sharpened up abit as it seems abit dark which i would use a vga connection rather than what i reckon is being used which is a component connection

funny how tastes differ but i know which one LOOKS Better and that is the one thats been out 12 months already

When viewed at a larger resolution, differences become more obvious:

...and seem to contradict what you are saying.

I can see better car detail, higher resolution textures, water in the pond reflecting the scenery etc.

I wonder though, are there any gameplay differences worth mentioning, apart from the optional sixaxis support?

So now we are reduced to graphics, but the PS3 has had 12 months or so more development time than the 360 and its more powerful but as I will say time and time again graphics dont make games.

Whatever that game is, is it just me that seems to think the apparent 360 one seems to have HDR, where-as the PS3 doesn't? If it's not that, then it's down to the fact there seems to be a LOT of over-bright (from the camera) on the 360 image. Take a close look; on the 360 image, you can see the 'scan lines' (not sure if they are, or just the texture of the panel being used) on the rear-window of the car - yet the PS3 has a completely smooth image.

They're definitely not fair images to draw a comparison on.

I was simply pointing out what i could see. The last sentence of my post is of much more significance.

yeap as i have aid you will never find a fair comparison aside from sitting there youself and playing both on the exact same screen.

At least those 2 screenies are a bit fairer than the original picture that was used to show the differences

Sony would argue that 1080p is normal especially with RR7 being the only launch title being native in 1080p

and 720p is about normal for the 360

Isn't normal setting the one that looks best for the game on the system?

It was whether the 360 version does the higher res, but for what ever reason the photo was taken at the lower res. I guess frame rates will also come into it as well.

Ahh well the 360 will do 1080i, but got a feeling an interlaced picture wouldn't be ideal settings for a racing game.

but really all this is sill speculation, we dont know.
