sucked trying to fit it in, damned heatsink, but go there eventually.

seems faster i guess in supreme commander. i had a 3.4ghz E6600 before. however, i run a test render in 3ds max to see the boost (sites say upto 40-50% improvement), yet its plodding along. i ctrl-alt-delete to see only 50% of each core being used.

anyone know why this is? annoying because at the moment its actually slower at rendering than my E6600, and 3ds max used both cores 100% to render.

im running xp home 32bit
p5ne-sli
2gb ddr2
8800 gts if it makes any difference.

Maybe you need to re-install 3ds max or something, so it knows about the 4 cores. *me shugs*

i actually did anyway. also had to reactivate windows, which was annoying

im also running at 37-40 degrees idle at stock with a freezer 7 pro with some AC paste. this too hot?

Is this measured using the motherboard sensor or the actual cores of the CPU using something like RMClock? I got 34 with MB sensor, but running about 50-54 at idle across the cores with RMClock.

probably obvious, but make sure that the 'multi-threading' option is enabled (should be by default) - customise --> preferences --> rendering.
