The quad core debate :-P

Quads all the way, dual cores are so 2006 :D Just about every modern game launching now has quaddie support and as software evolves you don't want to hamper yourself with only two cores really.

In my case its a , "horses for courses" type of thing, i started out on a dual core E6600, back then my primary use was gaming, as my needs and usage evolved i upgraded to a Q6600, still made for a good gaming system, subsequently replaced it with a q9550. All three of theese cpu's were run at a minimum of 3.6ghz, all were great for gaming but the extra 2 cores on the quads are a nice thing to have if using apps that take advantage of them.:)

Got a true on there, got it to 3.6ghz with 1.29v, seems happy enough. Currently 45c idle and jumps to 55-57c when running orthos...so is it safe to knock it up the vcore some more??

Yeah go for it, So long as its under 70oC I would be completely happy esp in this heat.
