BBC News said:
"She has always been aware of reaching more people and adapting the communication to suit," she said.

"This will make the Christmas message more accessible to younger people and those in other countries."

The Royal Channel can be viewed at www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel and the Queen's Christmas message can also be downloaded as a podcast from www.royal.gov.uk.

Well, this wasn't something I'd have thought the Queen would do - reaching out to the world via YouTube... can't leave comments on them tho - but that's to be expected, god knows how many trolls will be running on there with their words/comments of stupidity and spam...

Personally, I think they should allow comments, but any bound for the "royal channel" should be moderated (not to such an extent that negative comments are omitted, but to stop the out and out drivel).

But that, in their eyes, defeats the point of having their own section on Youtube. Try using a speaker's corner in London (you know, those booths that you type your message in and have it appear on a scrolling display outside?) to criticise the Queen and you get in trouble for it.

That's new to me, didn't know about these. Who do you get in trouble with?

I doubt there will be trolls, comments will probably be disabled.

edit: they have, what a suprise ;)

I Don't like the Queen at all. I think the whole monarchy is pointless today.... What with a full government etc.

Queen = Quintessential British. No Queen (or Monarchy, even if it's a powerless for show kind) and British will just be some island with people speaking in "weird English accent".
