I've not done mine, but I only bought mine 2 years ago and seems fine.

I've re-pasted GPUs before and my experience is, if it's not running abnoramally hot from it's base-line, it's kind of a waste of time.
 
Just to add, if you are getting high GPU temps, i'd look at case airflow and, if any case fans aren't runing properly before I start pulling the heatsink off the GPU.
