The Radeon VII Owners Thread

Agreed, although reading around this thread putting it under water seems to be the way forward which adds a lot to the total cost of ownership. See what tomorrow brings
The big thing with the 7nm process is to keep the voltage down, all cards seem to run -100mv off stock straight out of the box on the reference cooler. This really gets the temp and power usage down. I've found 1900Mhz @1000mv, 1140MHz HBM +0 power is the sweet spot for me on water. (stock 1060-1063mv card)

I've managed to tune my Radeon VII to run 1802/1200Mhz @0.987v and have the fan completely silent at under 2,200 RPM. Peak max hot spot temp is around 105c.

Pretty happy wiht that as it's actually quieter than my previous Vega 64 Liquid.

Looking good Matt. I've found if you drop the hbm to 1100-1150MHz it should give a little on the core. I've settled for 1140MHz on my HBM and manage 1802 @ 948mv and 1900 @ 1000mv.

Interesting.

With the HBM at 1200, i have found that 1901 appears to be close to my limit whilst maintaining junction temps at around 105c, but this requires a fan speed close to maximum.

1901Mhz/1200Mhz requires 1.047v.

Perhaps i will try dialing the HBM back to 1100-1150 to see if that helps reduce the core voltage required.

I don't think my sample is particularly good, however the contact between the GPU die and the thermal pad is very good as the difference between my core and junction temps is lower than a lot of other reports i have seen online.

Let me know how you get on, I'd think you'll manage to shave a few extra mv off with the HBM dialled back a little. I'm playing through "a plague tale innocence" 4K Ultra and that nails the GPU so hard, not battered an eye lid though. Very nice looking game too.

Just thought I'd post here that I've since replaced the Alphacool block with an EK one, cleaned out my loop and split it into two separate ones. The temperature difference has been enormous. I think 1160mV which I was running just for benches was getting me into the 80s (hotspot). It also allowed me to bench Firestrike at 2175Mhz. Much happier with the EK block.

Can you push it to 2235mhz? What cpu do you have, I think i'm still number 4 for firestrike ultra outta all the radeon 7's, what do you get?

I don't think so. The scaling seems to fall off massively after 2175Mhz. I think 1185mV is what it took and even using the full 1218mV the stock Wattman allows it's unable to get that extra 25Mhz. My CPU is a Threadripper 2950X and the best score I've gotten is 32395 (graphics) which I'd probably be able to improve on by overclocking the CPU and using game mode. I'll have to test Firestruke Ultra later.

What issues have you been having? I played it flawless running my vii @ 1900mhz 1000mv 1140mhz hbm +0 power. The engine is a little crazy as it just hits the card for 100%.
Sorry i was unclear, I looked at your sig and saw we have identical everything apart from motherboard, and my ram will not run as fast as yours, infact it wont run past 3000mhz... is yours the 3200mhz cl14 stuff as well or a higher speed kit?
