Just saw this, been on the cards for well over a year now as the owners were looking for someone to come invest (but the market potential of the SPL has proven to be rather low).

They owe more than portsmouth to the HRMC and have a mountain of debt to sort out too...

Got a feeling they'll get wound up as getting football investment is a pain when there's debt like this attached to the club.

Wonder what this holds for the Scottish Premier League?

With only celtic being the true other contender for being a top team!

1 horse race rather than 2 horse :p Be equally as exciting! :p

Probably means they will lose all meaningful TV money as who will want to watch a league with 1 team in? The SPL needs to cut its cloth accordingly and realise they cannot afford to attract big players anymore, focus on youth development and bring in EPL/Championship flops to fill out the squads.

Either that or merge with the English leagues starting from the bottom :p

If they go out of business the spl will look like a massive joke! (well more so than normal)

Wouldn't be surprised if uefa roll back one of the spl's champions league/europa league berths too as this should damage the spl's uefa coefficient.

Above all else its going to give Celtic a really hard time hanging on to some of their players if they can't play in a competitive league...

very serious :)

Chelsea appear there cos of their sugar daddy buying the title, which man city will do this year so that narrows the english league down to a 3 horse race but as mentioned blackburn aren't that great just now with their one title so that just has it between two teams, arsenal and man u.

Fair enough theres always the likes of liverpool as part of the 'top 4' but they haven't made any appearance in that list.

The same with the scottish league, you'll have the likes of Hearts and Dundee Utd pressuring but eventually they'll fall away in the second half of the season and youre left with the same two teams at the top. Same with Spain, will it be real madrid or barcelona, in italy, both milans and Juventus. The top leagues in the world generally will have two - four teams who can realistically win the title. Its all quite predictable ;)

As long as they keep a European qualification spot I can't imagine Celtic will have any trouble attracting players.

Easy league + European football (Celtic)

versus:

Hard league + no European football (mid-bottom EPL team)

Tough one. :p
