just hope he is fit and no break downs

as a neutral i just want him on the pitch and gettig match fitness for next season - he should not be expected to do anything really.

him and martins should be good - maybe owen will change his game a bit and utilise martins pace and complement him soewhat from deeper than usual

His overall records not bad though.

Liverpool (1996-2004) 118 goals in 216 appearances
Real Madrid (2004-2005) 13 goals in 35 appearances
Newcastle (2005-present) 7 goals in 11 appearances

Of course a number of those appearances were as a sub as well.

Fair enough, but in the 2 seasons you mentioned he scored 19 and 18 goals respectively (goal every other game, which is what they say a top striker should get).

Regarding him in general, when he's fit and "sharp" (which takes him ages after getting injured) he's as good as any striker about but he gets so many small knocks and takes for ever to recover.
 
What are people's criteria for the mystical tag of "World Class Striker", Owen scores at least a goal every other game. In the Premiership that certainly is a good marker imo. :)
 
i think his goal record is quite good - he would have been up there this season on his usual form given that most strikers aren't setting the world alight really.

his biggest problem imo is that he is quite difficult to partner up and form a duo
 
I'm happy that he's back, and played 95 minutes from what I've heard which is pretty darn good. Hopefully, and fingers crossed that he doesn't suffer from any big injuries again. If he plays well for the next few games, I can see a few bids coming in for him this summer.
 
He seemed quite sharp when he had the ball, which wasn't very often cos' Newcastle were absolutely RUBBISH last night.

Hope so, Manu lining up a £14m bid if he stays fit and they miss out on Torres.

Lets just hope the Dyer & Duff to Tottenham for £6-7m each is true, and that when Hargreaves moves to Manu Emre will replace him at Bayern for £5m+

Just got to get rid of Luque and we'll have enough for the rebuild we need by Big Sam when he comes in next month.
