Well, about 2 minutes ago she was loaded onto a lorry and taken away by her new owner. Despite all the problems, I was still sad to see her leave, when she was running she was an amazing car. It's the end of an era for me.

Goodbye mad Rotary powered thing :(

Terrible to see a much loved car go mate. :( I remember when my Clio Turbo drove off, I was proper gutted. :(

On the upside, you'll have a different toy to play with and lots of learning about the new motor so it'll keep you busy!

Argh I know what it feels like to see a pride and joy taken of your hands, I had to watch my bike be taken away and I see it daily in works carpark as the new owner works at the same place i do :(
Bye Bye rex, it was a awesomely fast car, just went like smoke when I tried to keep up on the bike! Damn bumps and bends! :p (excuses)

Sad day, part of the OCUK Landscape imho :(

What?

Maybe its for the best, every thread I read about it something had broken or it had been crashed. Must have cost a pretty penny. Sometimes things just aren't worth the expense when there are so many other things competing for cash.

if you truly love a car it doesnt matter how much it costs.

Don't be ridiculous, if it's reducing your standard of life sufficiently and making you go without things you need it has to go regardless of "love"

 - Part of the landscape means an object thats been here forever and once taken away it will be odd and missed.

I didn't state how mechanically reliable it has been, just its going to be missed by ALL!

I loved the car, as a car it was just awesome. I still say the RX-7 FD is the best drivers car of all the jap beasts of that era.

I didn't love the way it kicked me in the head and stole the contents of my wallet all the time though :(

:( bye bye rex.

Sorry to hear about this Ben, but look on the brightside... a new car, a new project.

What've you got in mind?

An ITR DC2 I think. Something a bit more driveable on the roads. Good choice IMO :)

that wasnt the point i was trying to make, obviously if its effecting your standard of living its not worth it.

My point was that if you love the car then your happy to spend that bit of extra on it, its when it stops making you happy and its still costing a fortune that its time to get rid.

I am well aware that my G60 is going to cost me more than a lot of cars to run, however, i will be spending the money on it anyway. And once the 1.816v is repaired or stripped the G60 will undergo a total rebuild. Aiming to get 200+ BHP out of it. The day that it stops putting a smile on my face is the day i get rid, or until i find something that puts a bigger smile on my face.

i'm in the same position with my toy car at the moment.. soon as i fix something on it something else breaks down or needs replacing.. it's almost as if there's a finite number of things that can work on the car at any one time

take the positive out of it, it's an iconic car that you've had the pleasure of fooling around with for a while.. now it's gone pick another car that you've always thought about and go for it? :)

(edit to fix spelling)

sorry to see it go ben.

Just make sure your new car is up and running soon, we need another midlands meet ;p
