The RTX 2080 pre-order thread

nah they are all reference, the custom ones are always later
Although as far as I've read, this reference board is pretty good as it is.

Besides marketing I don't see many reasons to invest in R&D to come up with a custom board.
The difference between an average card with standard board and the best one with custom one is always negligible.

I would be surprised if the Gaming X Trio board is reference, considering the 2 x 8 pin + 6 pin layout.

Some people say NVIDIA keep the best chips back for the FE edition (perhaps they are the evil NVIDIA rent boys).
And if you're going to put a liquid block on it, then it won't matter about any cooler differences.
Ah no good if that is true. I should've just went with the semi-cool looking founders edition! I chose gigabyte windforce thinking it would be better than founders / reference. So basically I've purchased a lesser card for about the same price.

You could still do that in all fairness. Nvidia still have 20th September shipping. That may be earlier than the gigabyte one too as I remember you said you need a new GPU since your old one died.

I would expect the gigabyte one to ship out at the same time, so that isn't a problem. If the founders edition is a better choice though then that changes things. I don't know if that is entirely true though.

I don't think it'll be any less powerful, clocks will still depend on the silcon lottery for both cards, but I could see the Windforce doing a slightly better job at cooling. Anyway the 2080ti FE is showing as out of stock completely now over at NV

2080 is still listed up as 20th, 2080ti which people are talking about here was in to October and is now listed as out of stock.

Decided to go all in on the 2080Ti and order a new case (meshify c), motherboard, hard drive, 8700k cpu, power supply, m.2 drive, cooler etc. Using it for editing when not editing at work so makes sense to do a full upgrade.
