The Running Man

I'll stick to the Arnie version.

This is just yet another in a long line of creatively bankrupt remakes that were neither wanted or needed.
But it's not really a "remake" because that was nothing like the book and this is more inline with the book.

It's a bit like saying Peter Jackson shouldn't have made Lord of the rings, because the animated one already existed.

I still enjoyed it but agree overall not as good as Arnie's version. It started off good but it kinda faltered in the last act. Still worth a watch even as a once off. Its corny and cheesy but tries to hard emulate the other version and works to a degree. Recognised large parts of the Glasgow including Chinatown lol

I saw it last night at the Stafford Odeon. Because of the editing style in some modern films, I found it hard to follow in places and the end montage was confusing but I did enjoy the film overall. Probably a 6/10. Ben Richards said "I'll be back" near the beginning which might have been a reference to Arnie. I liked the graphics / visuals from clips of other game shows and adverts. The bit where the mansion got invaded by cops reminded me of Skyfall.

I thought it was ok, and my son thoroughly enjoyed it.

I thought that towards the end it was a bit of a mishmash, with real/faked scenes, but, I suppose real life is getting a bit like that these days. :D

Is this worth a watch?

I watched it the other night and largely enjoyed it, it's not like the Arnie version whatsoever and is much closer to the original book narrative as written by Stephen King.

An entertaining enough couple of hours, it should have had a bit more of a serious tone as some of the humour felt forced and fell flat. There were areas which felt rushed/skimmed over in terms of character development and subplots, it's inferior to The Long Walk imo which is another King based movie that released recently.

Depends on what you're into really, if you're a fan of S.K by all means give it a shot. It could have been better but I don't regret spending a couple of hours with it and would give it a 6.5/10.

Enjoyable, however the last quarter seemed rushed and not in keeping with the first 3/4..

I however wish they had just kept to the book ending, but I guess if they had there would be no Running Man 2.. I can already see it.. :(

Would agree with most of this. The long walk captured the essence of the book pretty well i thought and any changes worked for me.

This just felt a bit off all the way through. I only re-read the book recently though in anticipation so it could have ruined the film for me. Maybe i'd have enjoyed it more with less of a memory of the book.

I love the first film and thought this one was pretty good. A few annoying parts but in general worth a watch.

Surprised by this after watching it, better than I thought it would be going in especially going up against Arnie's version it's one of those films where if they had given it a different name I think it would have gone down better with the general audience.

i'm surprised the reviews are so low for this - i really liked it.
Same I actually enjoyed it. It's average ranked against the Army one but if you hadn't seen the Arny one it would be above average id say. It's the sort of film I'll watch at least once a year and enjoy.

I liked that it wasn't just a scene by scene copy.
