The Running Man

Well it's Edgar Wright so worth a watch and at least looks closer to the novel than the Arnie abomination.

But not sure about the tone, long time since I read the novel, but remember it was pretty serious and cruel, I guess they feel the need to get some of the slapstick nonsense in from the Arnie film.

Plus all the little support act Tv shows in the novel that are pretty shocking are probably already on our screens as reality TV these days. So maybe the jokey jokey film is the way to go.

Even if this is amazing it's going to face the same issues as the upcoming Starship Troopers. People are too familiar with the (iconic) first movie and half of them probably don't even realise there was a book said movies were based on.

That said, the trailer is a bit so-so, looks MCU-esque comedy heavy at first glance which is a big nope from me.

If the plot is significantly different to the original (and from the trailer it is), then call it something different. Don't use the name of an Arnie classic to sell your movie!!
If anything it's more like the original.

Except in this case the "original" is a book and the Arnie film took massive liberties with it.

I hated the Arnie version, about all it had in common with the book was the title. This looks a lot closer to the book - will definitely be watching

You probably should have said that to the maker of the original film, about the book which they significantly departed from!

That said, I do like the Arnie film. But the complaint is hilarious under the circumstances.

The original will be the stephen king book, not the arnie film

Loved the Arnie one, if this was a repeat would have been a hard pass - but i think this looks watchable (noting the total recall remake was poor)
