The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Hi all,
I have a problem with hot spot temperature on my Vega 64 LC on balanced profile (tested on Witcher 3), sometimes is even 90C+. My PC case is very good ventilated with 4 fans, so im not sure.
Maybe Noctua nh-d15 on my Ryzen 1800x is a problem and generate additional heat into the card, but Ryzen never reached more than 60 celsius.

Yeah dude you need to turn that fan speed up some, @ 1505 RPM & 99% GPU load its no surprise.

So i was wondering.... Is there a way to mod my Vega 64 BIOS in any way that would be beneficial? I read somewhere that because AMD is complying with Microsoft's SecureBoot, AMD will not allow certain changes or something like that. Does anyone know anything about this or about any custom BIOS floating around?

Hmm strange, it looks like automatic speed fan has slight reaction on temps and gpu load, only speed up from idle 15% to 30% and thats it, hmm driver bug?
Most likely, AMD Crimson Series Drivers were built completely from ground up to my knowledge and are going to be work in progress because of that. They didn't simply modified Catalyst series drivers and stuck Crimson label on it, its a whole new approach and way of optimization from my understanding. but as far as fan speed goes i set it to manual and set the Min to 400 and Target to 4900 and it works like a charm. With the Under-Volt i have going it will hit the max 4900 RPM at times for maybe 30-50 seconds and then goes back down to ~2800-3500 RPM at 100% load.

Only just noticed these new drivers, anything notable besides the forza news. While benching heaven I saw a 2.3% difference from large hbcc to none with same settings

The default fan setup favours no noise with the fan capped too low and the temp target is also too high. Setup custom profiles for everything seems best

Read this post.

It wasn't IMO about secure boot, read this.

Ok Just got my RX 64 Limited edition from OC. WHy is this card so slow and running so hot? I have the latest drivers but my card is running at 80c only giving out 1200mhz clock speed in either powersaver or balanced mode, while playing low end Empyrium galactic on steam. Im also getting lot of crashes and black screens flickers for few seconds.
My specs are:
MSI gaming 970 MB
AMD 8320 Vishara 8 core
16GB Crucial RAM
2.3TB total HD space over 2 drives.
AMD Radeon Saphire RX 64 Vega Air Cooled

Notes: my computer do not get hot Neither the MB or the CPU I have air con blowing directly into it. only this RX VEGA get hot, almost boiling hot, my MSI 1060 never got past 60c under full stress, and even with the fans occasionally hitting 70% they were not as loud as this at even 20%
What gives, bad design, bad card/defect, bad drivers ?

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Vega 64.

Why is this a thing?!

Well if the cooler is that small it's going to run hot and Loud. Smallest Vega 64 should be 3 fan 2 slot and ideally triple slot.

believe its 2.5 slots - and Gigabyte branding so not aorus line up , although looks like 92mm fans

problem with ANY vega 64 model- people will just buy cheaper 56 version and flash it .....

Yeah it does look like 2.5/3 slot. I think I would prefer triple fans on something this big like a sapphire nitro fury. That is a really good cooler and kept my fury 65c.

Wouldn't be surprised if they did an Aorus version, but AMD would have to be playing ball - and market share still firmly in nvidia :(
I don't think amd have any control over this situation at all. They lost that when they sold the manufacturing facilities. It's people who Make The gpu does and hbm need their arses kicking to get those yields and production up.

amd told vendors to cut their profits for reference boards- asus refused thus no reference cards from them - some vendor reps have already mentioned for other subjects they are no surplus from AMD like Sapphire do - bit of searching but should find the direct quote which surprised a lot of goers on here

Very interesting info here worth a share I think. Seem you really can get a lot out of VEGA just under voltage alone! @AMDMatt is they a reason AMD seem to release GPU with Voltage way higher than what is needed?

My guess would be due to the variance between chips, There's been articles claiming that board partners have been struggling with finding a stable overclock for their own Vega models. Some chips appear to be a lot better than others, I imagine next years refresh range will be a lot better.
