The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Just bagged 8GB Gigabyte Radeon RX Vega 64 Watercooling for £614.99, should get it tomorrow.

I would have liked to buy at OcUK but £83 difference for Powercolor AIO was too much to swallow.

That looks similar to the error correction on my Rx470 if I push the memory over 1850 on the stock strap. I can also see error fails in the memory section of hwinfo. No stutters or corruption but I actually lose fps, although I am also governed by a strict power regulation, unless I fool it by using current scale in wattool.

Yeah having an EDC counter would be great, that was The Stilt's doing but implemented by Martin. Unfortunately Fiji had none (did ask) and I assume VEGA does not as well. I will run it by some who may have the info.

I believe as card is WC'd, have vastly better temps compared with ref blower, that is not issue. Here is screenie of SP 4K with monitoring, even with monitoring 1150MHz will score higher than 1100MHz in SP 4K.

OCP limit on HBM VRM for Fiji was way in excess of what it needed (40A), I would assume VEGA is the same. Perhaps the HBM needs extra juice, but then I think other tests are fine so why only TS (so far) has issue?

I can only conclude at present that differing apps and how TS is DX12, is using GPU/HBM differently and exhibiting this tanking performance issue.

Due to how VBIOS mod is not possible on VEGA, meddling with HBM straps/timings is no go. I do not know of a way to do via registry and believe there is no method as well.

Hopefully others will test and share info :) .

is it just me or are the 17.10.3 drivers on creators edition update 1709 win 10 are a complete f@$&ing nightmare. i dont think i had this much instability and wattman crashes from any other version.:mad::mad::mad:

on the other hand ..... man, Wolfenstein II @ 4K everything maxed out plays great on my RX Vega 64 & Ryzen 1700

At £614.99 I'm OK with the AIO given I've got a XR341CK

It's not that bad a price, on release the limited price models were 640, That said the prices should be dropping by now because as Loadsa said they're not selling very quick. They even still have loads of unsold limited supply bundle packs here , there and everywhere. I've been watching the numbers here and elsewhere every day since the release and stock doesn't move much, WCCF tech's article about how AMD couldn't keep up with the demand was laughable, They should have got the "Your fake news" Trump Award for that one.

Yes, me too. 17.10.3 was very unstable for me, even resizing the wattman window would cause it to crash. Overwatch and Ashes of Singularity were crashing so frequently they were effectively unplayable!

I attempted to go back to 17.9.3 but the AMD software in general seemed really buggy, it was crashing just trying to uninstall!

Fortunately, the latest DDU seemed to have cleaned it away (just as well as it wouldn't uninstall!) and I'm back on 17.9.3 with 3 hours crash free in ashes under my belt.

Cool, i wanted to do the same but somewhere read that these 17.10.3 & 2 drivers were only working drivers for the new 1709 windows 10 build (which hopefully is a lie). So just to be clear did you also upgrade ur win 10 build with the latest Fall Creators Update for windows 10 1709 or were you using the new driver on 1703 or earlier builds / or Win 7?

How loud is the air cooler on the RX Vega 64 Limited Silver Card?

I am running HD7990 at present.

You know what, not all that bad on well optimised games. Forza H3 and BF1, its no louder than my Sapphire RX480. However on PUBG, I swear I can see my case inching forward. Sounds like 3000watt hoover. I guess leaving the EU isn't such a bad thing or else they will ban these :D

On a serious note, with some tweaking and undervolting these cards are awesome.

Yes my Windows install is up to date, winver suggests it is: 1709 (OS build 16299.19)

I'm getting that annoying monitor flicker when moving mouse around, clicking and using keyboard with the latest driver. This was a massive thing back when Crimson launched, it got fixed and now it appears to be back again in full force. Might be to do with the latest Windows update also.

I just ordered the air cooled limited edition for delivery tomorrow. I'm tired of messing around and if I really can't handle the noise after tweaking it I'll try one of the converting kits with an AIO, I've got a brand new Corsair H100i I'm not using so being a double rad that shouldn't have problems cooling it.

Best way to go I think, I find the blower not too bad myself noise wise not as good as the tri x obviously but I got used to it and not that bothered now

I moved to an M-ATX case recently and even the RX470 Red Dragon I'm using get's real loud under load which I think is due to the air 240 cube case's design, basically I think I need a blower and I went with the Limited edition as the aluminium casing is really nice. I didn't buy another psu though so I'll see how I get along with all the voltage tweaking and if the 650w psu isn't enough and needs replacing I'll order that tomorrow.
