The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Is there a problem with just pushing HBM? The problem is only if you push the voltage right? I'm currently running rock solid 1180 MHz HBM2 @ 1000 mV
I can use 1180 @ 960mv on the hbm but it scares me running it that fast, i run 1699/1135 for gaming @940mv but i wouldn't recommend it, I just like getting my moneys worth because i water cooled it.
But... at these clocks it gets the same score as a friends real 64 LC @ 1600/1100 because... , binned? more shaders?.. i dont know

*edit im on a reference 56 with lc bios and eiswolf watercooler

Agree with that, Vega just can't be recommended at those prices.

Pricing is terrible at the moment, That said the Vega Nitro+ is every bit as good as the Fury Tri-x was with everything at stock settings,

These are the numbers after a few hours in Dying light. Ignore the top two it's the temps and fan speed that are impressive and this is in my M-ATX case.

I always thought the HBM voltage set in Wattman wasn't actually the voltage that your giving the HBM, thats determined by the bios, hence why people recommend the V64 bios on the 56 as it provides more HBM volts and allows users to hit 1100mhz.
The HBM voltage set in Wattman is the voltage the gpu will no go below.

Thats was my understanding anyway unless things have changed in the later driver releases

Yeah the cooling on that Gigabyte card doesn't look up to the job at all.

Definitely not and it feels like they're already making up excuses for it in the article so presumably they've already tested it before stripping it down, If not doing so will make the temp results they report unreliable, Gigabytes AMD cards haven't been that good lately. The 480 was poor (j2c) and I had the 4gb 560 which got too hot and too loud for so little performance, This article explains exactly what's up, Gigabyte can'r be arsed to do the research and development for AMD's cards like they do with Nvidia's. That's why I think it's safer to go with an AMD only brand like Sapphire or Powercolor.

Which should mean an FX83 would need to be like 7GHZ to be in the same ball park is more my point :p

Yep. I know. but, hey.. You can't beat the AMD value there. CPU/8GB RAM/Mobo for under $210 shipped. :)

Its why I wanted an AMD reference AIO card. I heard great things about AMD's reference design so went with it.

Gigabyte are about to release their one to avoid Vega model. Just looking at the size of the heatsink tells us it'll be either hot or loud and maybe even both.
In fairness the heatsink looks much beefier than the one on their dual fan 1070ti, so the Vega 56 at least shouldn't be too hot/loud (at least by comparison to their nvidia cards). The Vega 64 one however, I hope they aren't factory overclocking that lol.

Hopefully that's the case, that said Sapphire have put the same cooler on both chips so it'll be interesting to see how they differ as it may give us an idea on how different they are.
