The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

AMD certainly list the P6 as the stock boost, but factually it's set to 1632 on the air cooler (Which you've also said. Which is basically my whole point)

Factually the stock boost clock is 1546. It's listed in the specs and in the reviews. Again, run your card in one of the default modes. The clock speeds you can reach in custom mode can't be achieved with the 3 default modes.

Reviews, AIB's, Manufacturers specs can't all be wrong.

Hope you don't mind me asking: What are the games you generally play?
Nothing mental TBH.

Heroes of the Storm, World of Tanks, Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, PUBG, Minecraft, Supreme Commander, Borderlands games, GTA 5.

Plus all the play through em once then forget them games like Doom, etc.

@ubersonic Would you mind doing a small test for PUBG? Disable your Vega 56, running only on the 64, make a note of some FPS and then enabling mGPU & the Vega 56 and doing the same with both GPUs in action? Don't worry if not, just curious to see.

Pugb work with mGPU ?
Honestly I don't know, when I said works fine I actually meant it in the context of not having any issues/drawbacks compared to single card, some of the games will be getting a boost some might not be but none of them run worse or glitch.

Can do, I'll give it a try when I'm on that system next.

Ok lovely people, final question for the water cooling I have to get for my new 64.

My Basket comes to £270 for tubing e.t.c and block + res/pump combo

So.... Do i get that OR
Get the Aluminium all in one Ek thing, that has pump/res radiator and cpu + gpu block (no G corrosion, all aluminium) for £220
OR the Ek MLC system which is also £270 and has pre filled rad + pump all connected to a vega waterblock

I'd go for the copper MLC version given a choice between the two simply because it's easier to expand the loop or change parts in the future. Although if building it from individual parts is cheaper, I'd go that route instead.

Except he isn't correct. He is talking about settings in custom mode, as are you. Put the original bios on and the stock cooler and run your Vega card with one of the 3 default options. The boost might start off high, but then it will average out to around the stock settings. The same happens with Nvidia's cards. The boost starts off really high before settling down. It's not a static figure though, it might boost a little higher at times because the card isn't doing as much work. The boost isn't just temp based, it's power based too. Actually there is a lot going on behind the scenes to work out the boost figure.

yes i know how it works and what i said about temps is correct although i missed the rest of the combination out therefor if you have the room for it martinis statement is correct. p.s. it does the same thing exactly when resetting everything to default for me therefor the boost is as martini stated however if the thermals go up etc them the boost drops, again therefor max boost is 1632 or whatever number it was mentioned. officially mentioned or not thats the behavior.

I can throw a spanner in at this point by suggesting you can set min/max states on the p6 and p3 hbm for any of the 3 presets on AMD wattmatt software.

so you are saying that AMD are limiting stock bios/driver setting to p6?, if so i can disprove that theory in that if you run benchmark and check the lights on the card, i can clearly see the p7 state being achieved.
