The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I'm running pretty similar to you with a 1920X @ 4GHz and a Vega 56 on a 64 bios with 150% power limit enabled and haven't had any trouble with power draw using a 750W PSU. GPU power draw at the absolute maximum I've seen pushing the full fat 1.2V at 150% power limit was 330W and the CPU at full chat using 1.325V pulls 240W.

What clock speeds are you at on the card? And how do you get +150w PL?

Pretty sure I'm about at the limit of this 850w psu here if I try to overclock the card. How much power are guys with overclocked setups running?

Defined overclocking? Set it to +50% power limit and +4%-5% overclock. (use the vertical overclocking bar not the P states)
Open the overlay while gaming and let us know (or take a picture) of it.

If I even set +1% the whole system locks up and If I set +50% PL without reducing the clocks from 1632 in p7 it also locks up. Same with lowering voltages at stock.

At Turbo mode what are your clocks, power consumption and temps? You can see that using the overlay while gaming.
What PSU you have? Is it connected to the GPU with 2 independent 8pin power cables without spliters?

Btw for those thinking with all the RTX malarkey that your Vega 64 is a weak card, is not.
Have a laugh to the video bellow, and compare the values to here on same games like Battlefront 2, AC etc

Yeah in some games the Vega 64 beats the TXp by 10% in 4K HDR, while on others sits neck and neck.

@LtMatt seriously why AMD didn't pushed on the HDR front performance lead a year now?

Turbo mode I'm seeing power round about 250w though it will occasionally spike down to 99w. The clocks are staying around 1510-1555 and the maximum temperature I saw was 70c and this without touching fan settings.

That is impressive for same clocks my Nitro+ at Turbo mode needs 276W.

Yeah spikes down to 70-80W are normal when cards aren't utilised.
I can play EU4 and CK2 for hours and the card don't go over 80W.

So you think I'm just out of luck on the old silicon lottery as to why it cant go much higher I mean temps are ok etc but as soon as I start fiddling with settings it seems to just not like it. Memory actually overclocks pretty good It's Samsung though.

Main focus is to raise HBM ram to 1090/1100. That is the biggest gains.

If going by the gpu-z or overlay then this only reports the gpu draw, so if you add 40w for the hbm and the power regulation this will put it to it's true power draw.
So for example in a heaven loop I can run my reference V64 at around 1530-1540 mhz core, 1100hbm at 0.9625v this will draw 150-160w so add 40w it's hitting 190-200w.

Highest clock speed that my card can get stable is around 1712 which is pretty low compared to most. Unlocking 150% power limit requires registry tweaks to the powerplay tables. I used this video for working out how to unlock the higher power limits.

Day to day, I run it as P6 = 1632MHz @ 1050mV and P7 = 1672MHz @ 1075mV. Average power usage is around 240W and peaks at 275W as reported by GPU-Z. HBM runs quite happily at 1100MHz.

So I'm still having a problem since I've installed my Vega.

I'll get about 15-20mins gaming out of it them my computer just switches off line it's completely died. It then won't turn on at all for about 10 mins, the power button does nothing. After 10 mins it turns on as normal.

I've tried reseating the card and the power connectors. I've tried setting the fan speed manually in case it's overheating (it's not, hitting about 50 degrees).

The psu is a bitfenix whisper m 750w which is supposedly a good one.

I've been running this system with an rx480 for a year with no problems. The only new part is the gfx card. It's just strange that the computer will not turn straight back on afterwards. Nothing is hot inside either.

Any ideas?

Edit- turned my pc back on and it happened again 30 seconds into a game. :(

Has anyone gone from a 980Ti to a V64? Did they find it to be worthwhile? Just curious as I may well be making my way back to an all AMD system later this year or early next. :)

What is the voltage in the hbm p-state 3 set to? What vddc does your card hold when under full load?
