The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Thanks, I bought the Signum cable tidy from IKEA. So any power bricks sit on that, and then I've got cable tidy stickers on the underside of the desk to keep the cables up and out the way.

Awesome, I will look into it. No doubt IKEA is blocked at work (Google is now :p) - does it require a drill?

I'm reseating the Mobo cable to fix it but it sounds very much like the same thing.

Which PSU do you have?
Seasonic SSR-650FX FOCUS Plus Gold 650W

I know some brands make models for other companies, I wonder if those issue could affect those and what the situation would be in that case in rgeards to RMA.

Ha you need training mate. I am not some thin "exercising mantra" bloke. No, I have my extra weight (quite a bit) and generally been lazy. But found that feeling better and more energetic (and competitive) when standing up playing 4-5 hours World of Tanks, than sitting down. I do not know why. Same applies to work, when first was given a standing desk I was able to clock 7 hours standing and my work as software developer was improved also, so was my feeling of actually working.

Same applies to all activities tbh, hence having three standing desks at home, for computer gaming, model painting and as general workshop. The IKEA Skarsta is great device :D
I did notice IKEA done a standing desk! It's something I'd probably give a try, but never buy one lol.....you sound like my Mrs saying that I just need training.....it's like the ironing fiasco all over again haha!

They've blocked Google?! You don't need to drill it, you can screw it in by hand but I prefer to make a small pilot hole with a drill bit to make it easier to screw in.

In case your 64 is acting up and you have one of these PSU's.

Seasonic Issues Warning: FOCUS PLUS PSU has GPU Compatibility Issues-

Here's something you do not see that often, Seasonic confirmed that their FOCUS PLUS power supplies can have issues with certain graphics cards resulting in black screens under GPU stress, the issue seems related to high ripple under GPU load.

The solution is quite simple though, some modified PCIe cables with enhanced shielding make the problem go away":

FOCUS PLUS and GPU potential compatibility issues-
We have been notified, in limited instances, where some issues may occur when a FOCUS power supply is used in conjunction with certain high power consumption GPU or brand of VGA cards. If you experience possible compatibility issues, please check the below information and contact us for further assistance:

FOCUS PLUS & ASUS GTX970 STRIX: In very limited instances black screen may occur under heavy VGA usage. Current testing showed that certain VGA cards may emit higher than normal ripple when under heavy load and using a modified PCIe cables with enhanced shielding resolved the issue.

FOCUS PLUS & Vega 56/64: For units with serial numbers before January 2018, in rare instances, possible system shutdown may occur when GPU is under heavy load. This is possibly caused by higher than normal peak current emitted by this particular range of GPU's when under heavy load triggering the PSU’s internal protection safety.

I'm glad I went with Seasonic's 860watt Prime PSU now, I did look at the Focus.

Thank you :). I'll borrow a friend and drill for prep :o:p.

Finally!!!!!! Got my reference 64 in and have only done a short comparison real quick in SOTTR bench but I'm impressed so far. My Fury X was an ok overclocker so this test I had it at 1140mhz and my vega all I did was undervolt p7 to 1000mv and put the hbm to 1100. Locked it to only use P7 an P3 (hbm) with the oc tool. Core clock stayed in the mid 1500's throughout the bench. I did it about 5 times and it was very very consistent. Temps in the mid 70's with a higher fan profile, but not too terrible with headphones on lol. I'll slap my morpheus 2 on soon, but I think I got a good one :)

Comparison pic attached from overclocked Fury X LE to undervolted reference Vega 64 @ 1440p

edit: finalized on 1033mv for both core / hbm locking p7 to 1630mhz and p3 hbm to 1100mhz. Holds a pretty solid 1573 - 1580 at 99%gpu usage and a peak of around 71 deg. I'll leave it like this until I take the reference blower off this weekend hopefully lol.

Yes my pc is mad max style... function > form :p

Bought BF5 yesterday to try on my Vega 64, started downloading it and at 30% you can start playing it, so I fired it up and it looks decent enough, about 5 mins in I got a hard lockup, the screen went black and displayed thousands of coloured pixels and I had to hard reboot to get the pc working again.

When I tried BF5 again it was repairing the install which basically looked like it was trying to download the entire game again so I switched it off out of boredom.

Anyhow I'm guessing the crash was probably the GPU, Ive read the game is not too stable on Vega cards? My hbm was at 1045 and 1000mv, that seems perfectly fine for Grim Dawn and FF14 which are the only other games I play. Core is set at 1000 and 1000mv, do you think I may need to increase the HBM voltage a little for BF5 or is it a case of waiting for the game to get fixed or maybe a better driver?

I've had 0 issues with BFV on my Sapphire Nitro + Vega 64 and I'm using Panos's recommended settings.
