The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

@Illuminist
So basically you saying this.

What is the highest resolution you can buy now 8k? I game at 1440p on PC so what you saying I can never max out any off my games! Because I can not render at the highest resolution available. My VEGA 64 most defo can not do 8k playable so I might has well give up now I cant max out games on PC!

LOL

You sir are funny.
No its a graphics setting, im saying that if you say 4k maxed, and theres a setting that isnt at its maximum its not maxed but forget it anyway, stupid argument im sorry

Well another EVGA PSU to add to the pile. A friend got a Vega64 LC edition and after popping into his PC, his PSU just **** the bed and died hard. Turns out it was one of the Superflower ones that just don't do Vega. He's got an 850W Corsair now and running great on the same hardware ;)

Just realised i forgot to show the settings used in the 4k video, but they were same as the 3440x1440 video in which i do show the settings, except the resolution was increased to 4K.

Image quality was at 100%, no point trying to render the game at 8K as the FPS would be unplayable.

Maxed out @200% on an overclocked RTX Titan.

Frames: 4590 - Time: 170109ms - Avg: 26.983 - Min: 22 - Max: 33

Image quality is actually a lot worse than 100% as I don't think the other graphics options work properly @200%.

Even if the game devs get mGPU working to increase the fps it won't make the image quality any better.

If I was playing this game I would have Image quality set to 100% regardless of what hardware it was running on.

Thanks for the info Kaap.

I think the game looks great at 4K max settings with image quality at 100%.

Thank you for that Kaapstad,
just out of interest does everyone with a vega have the re 2 demo saying they have 0 vram available? or just me, tried 3 drivers and the same thing happens.

Hi, I read you have to mess around with the achievements as well and don't want to do anything that might affect my overallaverage, but it's mainly because I also heard your account can get flagged for doing so some time ago.
I just used it to freeze the time after i had received my achievements, it didnt mess with anything, i freely explored and finished the demo on my own time and then deleted both the demo and the thing

How did you get on?

So I had an early chance to do a little tinkering.
1st of all I downloaded the latest DDu uninstaller and the new 19.1.1 Drivers.
Once the GPu driver was removed I did a restart and windows 10 got stuck in a boot loop,. Had to reset windows as I’ve disabled system restore. 1hr later the new AMD driver was installed.
My LC seems to be ok at stock settings with HBM at 1100mhz. Had a good run on subnautica with no crashes.
Then I dialled in your screen shot settings. She didn’t like it.
Have left it at P6 1667 (1120mv)
P7 1752 (1220mv) with HBM at 1100mhz for now, happy with temps.
Seemed to hold at 52-58c for longer and the fan doesn’t ramp up as quick.

Going to Dl the Resi 2 demo later and try her out with that.

Will have another go at it and hopefully squeeze some more.
Thanks.

I bought a Corsair HX850 platinum psu to use with a Vega LC back when Vega released & it made the Vega LC scream, It was quiet with an old TX850 bronze and an EVGA G2 650 Gold, neither of which provided enough juice for any sort of overclock & they crashed the system so I sent both the Vega LC and Corsair HX back and went with a Seasonic Prime 860 platinum, I've had three other Vega's since then and they've all been whine free so I won't bother wasting my time with Corsair if I ever replace the psu again.

After the game had locked you out?

I'm presuming I can't freeze time as I reached the time limit and when I Googled how to do it, it said I needed to reset the timer & the achievements.

See if you can get the p7 down below 1200mv. Power consumption drops nicely once you go below 1200mv. 115--1175mv is good target to aim for.

No my friend, I finished the demo, got the 5 10 15 20 25 30 minute achievements or whatever increments they were, then got the thingy we are talking about, ran it, ran the game and my timer was back to 30 but frozen on it so it never went down.
Played it to my hearts content then just uninstalled them both

Do you overclock the CPU?

I overlooked this message but no, so the XMP is enabled but everything else is unchanged. Should I really **** about with voltage if it should be stable as is, or is it nothing to worry about if I under/overvolt in small increments?

Also wouldn't memtest86+ be better as I don't have to run it on Windows?

Memtest64 is the latest and can be booted from USB at bios to run before Windows starts.

If you don't overclock the CPU that is great least you can rule that out. XMP is a good start because that will set up the correct timings and voltage for the RAM.

Was XMP always enabled?

Really if everything is stock then messing with voltages shouldn't be needed. It could then mean RAM is faulty and needs testing.

Hope this helps.

Yep!

Well this is concerning as I have a 650 P2. Hasn't blown up though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
